1. RAILWAY TRANSPORTATION OF EXPORTING GOODS DECREASED, OF IMPORTING ONES – INCREASED
Economics

Georgian Railway reported that volume of transit and exporting transportations decreased in the first half of the year, while of local and importing ones – increased.

In total, railway transportations in the reporting period amounted to 9.78 million t.

2. RAILWAY SHIPPING OF OIL AND OIL-PRODUCTS DECREASED, WHILE OF DRY CARGO – INCREASED
Economics

Georgian Railway reported that volume of oil and oil-products’ transportations decreased in the first half of the year, while of dry cargo – increased.

Out of total shipment of Georgian Railway in the reporting period, oil and oil-products accounted for 47% (4.6 million t), declining by 14.1% if compared with the same period of 2011.

3. “GOOGLE” DEEPENS COOPERATION WITH GEORGIA
Business

Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported about meeting with Divon Lan, product manager of Google’s Next Wave Emerging Markets unit, being with visit in Tbilisi.

According to Lan, his visit aims to strengthen relations between his company and Georgia and upgrade cooperation to the new level.

4. GEORGIAN BANKS’ INVESTMENTS IN SECURITIES AMOUNTED TO 968.8M LARI
Business

National Bank of Georgia reported that Georgian banks’ investments in securities amounted in the first half of the year to 986.8 million lari. This volume exceeds by 18% the showing of the same period of 2011.

5. IN PROPERTY INSURANCE, “UNISON” LEADS IN TERMS OF ATTRACTED PREMIUM, WHILE “GPIH” – IN TERMS OF REIMBURSEMENT
Business

National Bank of Georgia reported that in the first half of the year, Georgian insurance companies have attracted 24.8 million lari in property insurance, while reimbursed 467,762 lari.

If compared with the same period of 2011, attracted premium increased by 1.5%, while reimbursement declined by 29.3%.

6. “ALDAGI BCI” LEADS IN TRAVEL INSURANCE
Business

Travel insurance premium, attracted in the first half of the year by Georgian insurance companies, has increased by 36.5%, while reimbursements in this sphere decreased by 41.4%, if compared with the same period of 2011.

According to National Bank of Georgia, total premium, attracted in travel insurance, amounted to 1.9 million lari as of June 30.

7. “STANDARD INSURANCE GEORGIA” OFFERS CAR INSURANCE FOR 1 LARI A DAY
Business

Standard Insurance Georgia announced that starting from today, insurance of car is available for 1 lari in a day. The policies are available in supermarket chain Goodwill only.

8. “WISSOL GROUP” ENTERS HOTEL BUSINESS
Business

Wissol Group, importer and distributor of oil-products, entered hotel business as well, opening first object in Akhaltsikhe (Samtskhe-Javakheti region). Construction of hotel Lomsia was implemented since May 2011.

Business

Preferred Boutique of Preferred Hotel Group will manage hotel Kabadoni, located in Signagi (Kakheti region). Until now, this brand was not represented in Georgia.
