1. GEORGIAN-RUSSIAN NEGOTIATIONS ON VISA REGIME HAVE ENDED WITHOUT ANY CONCRETE CONCLUSIONS
Politics

The parties are going to review all the proposal presented at the negotiations and inform their counterparts about their decision by the diplomatic mail, told Sarke the special envoy of the Foreign Ministry of Georgia Avtandil Napetvaridze. According to the Georgian diplomat, Moscow intends to introduce visa regime unilaterally in case the positions of the parities do not come closer.

2. MEMBERS OF RUSSIAN STATE DUMA VISITING TBILISI

Today, the Chairman of the Parliament Zurab Zhvania met the delegation of the Russian State Duma, headed by its Vice Chairman Vladimir Lukin. The parties discussed the questions concerning Abkhazia, withdrawal of the Russian military bases from the Georgian territory and the visa regime introduction.

3. CIS EXECUTIVE SECRETARY WILL ARRIVE IN TBILISI ON NOVEMBER 20-21

According to the Foreign Ministry of Georgia, the key aim of Yuri Yarov’s visit is the preparation for the CIS summit, which will be held on December 1 in Minsk. The session of the council of the CIS government heads and foreign ministers will be also held there on November 30.

5. TBILISI AVIATION FACTORY INTENDS TO MODERNIZE ATTACK JET
Business

Tbilisi aviation factory is holding negotiations with Israeli company, with the purpose of modernization the plane Su-25 informed the Ministry of Economic, Industry and Trade. The talk is about the installation of avionics on an attack jet, which will considerably improve the plane’s technical parameters.

6. AGREEMENT ON JOINT EXPLOITATION OF RAILWAY-FERRY HAS BEEN RATIFIED

On November 10, the Parliament ratified an agreement on joint exploitation of railway ferry by Bulgaria, Georgia and Ukraine, with the voices of 125 “for” and 2 – “against”. The agreement signed in April 1999 envisages a ferry connection between Varna (Bulgaria) and Ilichevsk (Ukraine) ports from Batumi and Poti (Georgia).

7. A HAY IMPORT IS FREE FROM VAT
Economics

The decision on exempt from tax of roughage (hay) import for cattle has been in fact unanimously adopted at the Parliament meeting on November 10 (only one MP was against). At the same time they couldn’t agree with the Finance Ministry, referring to IMF recommendations.

8. STRUGGLE AGAINST TUBERCULOSIS WILL BECOME A PART OF PRESIDENTIAL PROGRAM

Today, on the basis of the Center of struggle against tuberculosis has been opened a modern ecobacteriological laboratory. According to the information of the Ministry of Health Labor and Social Welfare, the creation of this laboratory cost $300,000.
