    Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that parliamentary elections will take place on October 8 of this year and “this is the political decision”.

    The Premier stated the mentioned before the government meeting today and noted that the country “will not be able to live 7 months in the pre-election mode”.

    Within its visit to Georgia, delegation of Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC) signed memorandums with Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Partnership Fund.

    According to memorandum, signed with Partnership Fund, the sides agree on general principles of cooperation, including opportunities of joint projects’ implementation in Georgia.

    While studying documentation of Panama intermediary company Mossack Fonseca within journalistic investigation, Panama Papers obtained information on that property of former or acting leaders of 72 countries, which was classified until now.

    Among such properties is Lynden Management Ltd, registered in Virgin Islands, which owner is Georgia’s ex-premier, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili.

    Georgian Business Confidence Index (BCI) gained 3 points in the current quarter (from 11 to 14), Policy Institute of International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET Policy Institute) declared.

    The Institute explains this improvement with dramatic strengthening of business expectations from 16 points in the 4th quarter of 2015 to 38 index points in the 1st quarter of 2016.

  14. PREMIER’S FORECAST: GDP GROWTH TO MAKE UP 3-3.5% IN 2016, WHILE 5.5-6% – IN 2017

    In 2016, “We expect growth of 3-3.5%, while in 2017 – 5.5-6%”, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared in his interview with CNN.

    To compare, according to key parameters of the budget, GDP is expected to growth in 2016 by 3%, while in 2017-2019 – by 5.5% annually.

    Olive processing factory has been recently opened in village Sakobo (Signagi municipality of Kakheti region). As administration of the government said, total investment cost of the project, implemented by Georgian Olive company, makes up about 5 million lari.

    Georgian government will get Germany’s credit of 135 million EUR and grant of 5 million EUR, intended for implementation of investment projects. The funds will be allocated for investment projects in energy, municipal infrastructure and agriculture.

    The Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that institution for financing of students’ start-up ideas is expected to start operation in a month. That will be special foundation, established under the Partnership Fund and oriented specifically on the young people’s business initiatives, the Premier said.

    Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that currently more than 400 projects with total cost of 6 billion lari are implemented in Georgia, being funded by donor countries, international organizations and financial institutions.

    Kvirikashvili said the mentioned at the annual coordination forum of donors, held in Tbilisi today.
