    GEORGIA AND POLAND CONSIDER ECONOMIC COOPERATION

    Tbilisi hosted the first session of Georgian-Polish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation today.

    Deputy Economic Minister Zura Alavidze noted that the sides considered issues of cooperation in such spheres as foreign trade, energy, transport, banking, agriculture, tourism, etc.

    DEVELOPING OF NEW TOURISM LEGISLATION IS UNDERWAY

    Economic Development Ministry reports that European experts in tourism, being on visit in Georgia within framework of initiative of European Commission, are studying situation on the spot. The major task of their work is perfection of tourism legislation.


    ECONOMIC FORUM TO BE ARRANGED UNDER THE AEGIS OF TBILISI CITY HALL

    Zviad Archuadze, chief of city service on economic policy of Tbilisi City Hall, declared that economic forum will be held in Tbilisi hotel Radisson Blu Iveria on April 7-8.

    Local companies engaged in tourism, food industry, etc.


    AZERBAIJAN, UKRAINE AND TURKEY CONTINUE TO HOLD MAJOR SHARE OF FIXED PERMISSIONS ON TRUCKING

    United Transport Administration of Georgia reports that Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Turkey still account for major share of one-time fixed permissions on international trucking.

    According to latest data (as of February 8, 2010), total number of issued permissions made up 1,919, out of which 84.2% (i.e. 1,616 permissions) were issued to the three abovementioned countries.


    FIXED PERMISSIONS FOR TRUCKING LAUNCHED TO SERBIA

    United Transport Administration of Georgia reports that issuing of one-time fixed permissions on international trucking to Serbia is already started for Georgian forwarders. Until now, permissions to the mentioned direction were not issued.

    ONLY 3 OUT OF 19 LOCALLY OPERATING BANKS ARE FOUNDED THROUGH GEORGIAN CAPITAL

    According to National Bank of Georgia (NBG), as of December 31, 2009, 19 banks are operating on the local market, instead of 20 ones – a year ago. Among them, three banks (Cartu, Constanta, Progress Bank) are founded through Georgian capital only.


    65.7% OF SAKARTVELOS BANKI CLIENTS’ DEPOSITS ARE PLACED IN FOREIGN CURRENCY, WHILE 34.3% – IN LARI

    According to Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia), as of December 31 2009, clients’ deposits amounted to 1.13 billion lari, i.e. 39% of total liabilities and equity.

    At that, 65.7% of deposits are placed in foreign currency, while 34.3% – in lari.


    MORTGAGE ACCOUNTED FOR LARGEST SHARE OF SAKARTVELOS BANKI’S RETAIL CREDIT PORTFOLIO, WHILE TRADE – OF CORPORATE ONE

    According to Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia), as of December 31, 2009, the largest share of its retail credit portfolio accounted for mortgage, while trade has the biggest part in corporate portfolio.

    In particular, 43% of loans, issued to retail clients, accounted for mortgage credits.


    SAKARTVELOS BANKI OFFERS VISA FIFA CARDS

    Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) reported that it offers Visa FIFA cards (two different designs). The matter concerns debit Visa Electron cards, which costs 10 lari.


    UNITED TELECOM HAS NEW TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

    JSC United Telecom reported that Levan Buchukuri was appointed as technical director on March 1. He will head technical development and exploitation issues in the company.


    HEIDELBERGBETON GEORGIA COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION OF THE SECOND PLANT

    Director of LLC HeidelbergBeton Georgia David Jugashvili informed Sarke on completed construction of the second concrete-mixing plant. At this stage, equipment is being mounted with participation of German experts.

    LLC Integrated Business Solutions (IBS) reports that works on online shop of Geo-Coop has been finished today. Geo-Coop is official distributer of Coopoliva brand in Georgia.


    REGIONAL CENTERS OF FINANCE MINISTRY IN RUSTAVI, BATUMI AND TELAVI TO BE REPAIRED

    Finance Ministry announced tender, aiming repair of its regional centers (tax service) in Batumi, Rustavi and Telavi. Total cost of 6 lots is 1.02 million lari.


    LLC GEORGIAN RAILWAY WILL PURCHASE GUARD SERVICE

    LLC Georgian Railway has announced an international tender on procurement of guarding service for its objects. Expected cost amounts 7.61 million lari (without VAT).

    LLC Georgian Railway has announced an international tender on railings purchase. Expected cost amounts to 8.76 million lari (without VAT).
