    ECONOMY MINISTRY: INDONESIA IS INTERESTED IN FREE TRADE WITH GEORGIA

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that delegation of Indonesia expressed wish of establishment of free trade regime with Georgia.

    The meeting with the parliamentary delegation of Indonesia, which pays visit to Georgia, took place in the Ministry today.

    IN Q3, TURNOVER OF BUSINESS SECTOR INCREASED BY 19.7% Y-O-Y, WHILE OUTPUT – BY 23%

    Sakstat reported that turnover of business sector amounted in the 3rd quarter to 18.6 billion lari, increasing year-on-year by 19.7%.

    At that, 46.1% of total turnover was share of trade (including repair of cars, household appliances and personal articles).


    IN Q3, NUMBER OF EMPLOYED IN BUSINESS SECTOR INCREASED BY 6.3% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that number of employed in business sector in the 3rd quarter made up 643,900. If compared with the same period of 2016, the number has increased by 6.3%.


    INTERNET ACCESS HAVE 98.4% OF ENTERPRISES

    Referring to conducted study, Sakstat reported that as of January 1, 2017, Internet access had 98.4% of Georgian enterprises.

    Most widespread mean of access is fixed broadband (fiber-optic and cable technologies) – 40.2%, while DSL technologies account for 31.8%, Sakstat said.


    DURING 2016, NEW OR IMPROVED PRODUCTS WAS BROUGHT ON THE MARKET BY 13.1% OF ENTERPRISES, WHILE INTRODUCED – BY 13.9%

    Referring to conducted study, Sakstat reported that 13.1% of enterprises had brought during 2016 new or significantly improved products on the market.

    In turn, share of those enterprises, which introduced new or significantly improved products during the reporting period, made up 13.9%, Sakstat said.


    ISET POLICY INSTITUTE: GEORGIAN BUSINESS CONFIDENCE INDEX SLIGHTLY GREW IN Q3

    Policy Institute of International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET Policy Institute) declared that Georgian Business Confidence Index (BCI) has increased slightly in the 4th quarter (by 1.2 index points) and made up 28.2 points.

    Despite decreased expectations growth of BCI, in the 4th quarter “was mostly driven by notable increase of the Past Performance Index”, reflecting businesses assessment of their own economic performance in the previous quarter, ISET Policy Institute specifies.


    STRATEGY OF FIGHT AGAINST BROWN MARMORATED STINK BUG IS DRAFTED

    Agriculture Ministry reported that strategy of fight against brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) for 2018 is drafted.

    The strategy is based on experience, collected after actions against this pest, carried out in 2017, the Ministry said.

    “FLYDUBAI” TO LAUNCH DIRECT FLIGHTS TO KUTAISI IN NEXT SUMMER

    In the next year, Arabian carrier FlyDubai will conduct direct flights to Kutaisi during the period from June 14 to September 22, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

    Flights on the direction Dubai-Kutaisi will be conducted 3 times a week by Boeing 737 planes.
