THE PARLIAMENT PLANS CONSIDERATION OF DRAFT BILLS OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY DURING THE SPRING SESSION
Within the spring session, started on February 5, Georgian Parliament plans consideration of draft bill “On Encouragement of Production and Use of Energy from Renewable Sources”.
Explanatory note, enclosed to the draft, indicates that the draft aims facilitation to growth of share of renewable energy in total energy consumption of the country.
EIB CREDIT FOR GEORGIAN AGRARIAN SECTOR IS REVOKED
Georgian Parliament’s Committee for Agrarian Issues reported that credit of 100 million EUR, allocated by European Investment Bank (EIB) for Georgia’s agrarian sector, is revoked.
These funds were intended for the project on a chain of production/processing/sale in Georgia, financial agreement on which was signed in 2016.
STATE PROGRAM ON REHABILITATION AND EQUIPMENT OF MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS IS FUNDED WITH 20M LARI
Georgian government reported that the state program on rehabilitation and equipment of medical institutions is funded this year with 20 million lari.
Almost half of this sum (9.61 million lari) is provided for versatile university clinic in village Rukhi of Zugdidi municipality (Samegrelo region).
NBG BOUGHT $20M
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared about purchase of $20 million at the currency auction today. Average weighted rate made up 2.6461 GEL/USD.
MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND AGRICULTURE: WE’LL HAVE 50% GRANT FINANCING FOR MECHANIZATION
In 2019, we are starting the new program, by means of which we will have 50% grant financing on all types of mechanization, Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili declared.
“That is made in order to make modernized plantations available and highly productive cultivation of hazelnut and other crops possible”, the Minister specified.
NEW LANDFILL IN AJARA TO BE ARRANGED IN TSETSKHLAURI VILLAGE
Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy declared that borough Chakvi, selected initially as the site for the new landfill in Ajara, appeared incompatible with conditions of arrangement of an object. Respectively, new site was selected – village Tsetskhlauri.
SPOUSES OF AMBASSADORS, ACCREDITED IN GEORGIA, HELD THE CHARITABLE EVENT IN SUPPORT OF WOMEN WITH BREAST CANCER
Charitable event, aiming increase of awareness among Georgian population concerning breast cancer, was held on February 10 by initiative of Ekaterina Tidestrom, spouse of Swedish ambassador in Georgia.
Participants of the event were spouses of ambassadors, accredited in Georgia (Sweden, Germany, Austria, the EU, etc.) and the female ambassador of Turkey.
