    PRIME MINISTER: WE NEED SUPPORT AND ACCESS TO FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS OF THE EU

    “Georgia clearly understands that partnership with the EU is based on opportunities and will of the partners themselves”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared and added: “I assure you that we have them both”.

    We wish and we are able to provide branch integration, but “on this path, we need your support and access to financial instruments”, the Premier stated.


    THE EU ALLOCATES 28M EUR TO GEORGIA FOR SUPPORT OF SECURITY SECTOR AND 18M EUR – FOR PUBLIC FINANCE ADMINISTRATION

    Today, representatives of the EU and Georgian government signed agreement on security program worth 28 million EUR (86 million lari).

    The document was signed in Batumi, within the 16th international conference “Georgia’s European Way”.


    IDFI: IN MOST CASES, PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS DRAFT PRIMARY VERSIONS OF BILLS WITHOUT INCLUSION OF PRIVATE SECTOR

    Referring to conducted research, Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) declared that “In the vast majority of cases, public entities prepared the initial versions of draft laws without private sector involvement”.

    “In some cases, when draft laws were published online, public entities were reluctant to take proactive measures to reach out to the wider public”, IDFI indicated.


    “TI GEORGIA”: IT WILL BE BETTER TO PROHIBIT ISSUING OF FUNDS BY PARTNERSHIP FUND TO LEGAL ENTITIES, REGISTERED IN OFFSHORES

    For ensuring transparency of projects, financed by Georgian Partnership Fund, it will be better if issuing of funds by the Fund to legal entities, registered in offshore zones, was forbidden at the level of law, considers TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International.

    As the organization specifies, some of projects of the Fund raise certain questions in respect of possible corruption.

    EIB VICE-PRESIDENT: GEORGIA IS THE LARGEST RECIPIENT IN TERMS OF INVESTMENTS PER CAPITA

    Vazil Hudak, vice-president of European Investment Bank (EIB), declared that EIB has invested 2 billion EUR in Georgia, in projects in spheres of infrastructure and energy, municipal sector, road building, etc.

    “Georgia is the largest recipient (among countries of the Eastern Partnership) in terms of made investments per capita”, Hudak pointed.


    EBRD PRESIDENT: WE PLAN TO INCREASE SUPPORT OF GEORGIA IN 2019 AND THE NEXT YEARS

    Pierre Heilbronn, vice-president of EBRD, declared that EBRD invested over 260 million EUR in Georgia in 2018 that is “a record showing”. He specified that 90% of investments were made in private sector.


    PROSPECTS OF LAUNCH OF DIRECT FLIGHTS BETWEEN GEORGIA AND BULGARIA ARE CONSIDERED

    Within annual Batumi international conference “Georgia’s European Way”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze held a meeting with Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva.

    As press service of Georgian Premier said, the parties discussed further deepening of trade and economic relations and prospects of launch of direct flights between the countries.


    GEORGIA AND KOREA PLAN TO SIGN UNTIL END OF THE YEAR AGREEMENT ON AIR COMMUNICATION

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that within visit to the country of Korea delegation on July 8-10, negotiations were held on adjustment of text of agreement on air communication between two countries.

    As the Ministry said, the parties initialed the draft of agreement and signed the respective protocol, assuming obligation to sign the agreement until end of this year.

    CAUCASIAN UNIVERSITY TO BUILD A CAMPUS IN BATUMI

    On July 10, Caucasian University held presentation of the project on construction of university campus and school in Batumi. The construction has to be completed in 3 years.
