    SECOND ROUND OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 28

    Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) decided yesterday evening to hold the second round of election of the president of Georgia will take place on November 28. This day (Wednesday) will be officially announced as day off.


    EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT APPROVED REPORT ON IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EU-GEORGIA ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT BY GEORGIA

    Yesterday, the European Parliament in Strasbourg approved the report on implementation by Georgia of its obligation, undertaken within the EU-Georgia Association Agreement.

    The European Parliament “Warmly welcomes the sustained reform track and progress made in implementing the Associated Agreement and the DCFTA [Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement], which has positioned Georgia as a key partner of the EU in the region”, Georgian Parliament reported.

    FINANCE MINISTER: IN THIS YEAR, REAL ECONOMIC GROWTH WILL MAKE UP 5%

    Georgian Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani declared that “according to revised forecast, real economic growth in this year will make up 5%”. According to estimation for 9 months, economic growth made up 4.9%.


    THE EU AMBASSADOR IN GEORGIA: WE WILL CONTINUE SUPPORT OF GEORGIA IN DIRECTION OF “BETTER SKILLS FOR BETTER JOBS” REFORM

    “We will continue support of Georgia in direction of “Better Skills for Better Jobs” reform”, the EU ambassador in Georgia Carl Hartzell declared. He reported that new large-scale program will be signed next week in Brussels.


    THE GOVERNMENT PLANS TO CUT ALLOCATIONS TO CAPITAL PROJECTS, WHICH SPENDING IS NOT MANAGED THIS YEAR

    Georgian government declared that upon completion of electoral process (the second round of presidential elections in the country will be held on November 28), amendments are planned to the budget-2018, cutting allocations to capital projects, which spending is not managed this year.

    The government explained that because of various objective circumstances in mastering of allocations to capital projects, implementation of part of the projects will be passed to 2019 and the next years.


    CONSTRUCTION OF TIANETI-AKHMETA ROAD SECTION TO BE COMPLETED IN FEBRUARY OF THE NEXT YEAR

    Construction of Tianeti-Akhmeta 30-km road section will be completed in February 2019, Georgian Roads Department declared.

    The project worth 18.97 million lari is implemented with financial support of the World Bank.

    CONSTRUCTION OF SAMTREDIA-GRIGOLETI ROAD SECTION TO CONDUCT AZERBAIJANI “AKKORD”

    In near future, works on the 1st section of Samtredia-Grigoleti road will be resumed, Georgian Roads Department declared.

    According to the Department, the works will be conducted by tender-winner Azerbaijani company Akkord, contract with which was signed recently.


    PRIME MINISTER: NO LATER THAN NEXT YEAR, LONG-TERM STRATEGY OF MINDELI MINE’S DEVELOPMENT HAS TO BE CREATED

    At the meeting with miners of Mindeli mine, held today in Tkibuli (Imereti region), Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared that “no later than next year the long-term strategy of the mine’s development has to be created”. Otherwise, its operation could not be stable, he noted.
