    SPEAKER: LIBERTARIAN APPROACH, TO WHICH “GEORGIAN DREAM” OPPOSED IN 2012, CONFLICTS WITH THE CHIEF VALUE OF RULING TEAM

    “We [ruling Georgian Dream] had opposed in 2012 to many things, which we did not like in the previous authority, and libertarian approach, which the former had, was one from this”, chairman of Georgian Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze declared. “Such approach directly conflicts with the chief value, on which we base our policy – this is human being”, he pointed.


    THE PARLIAMENT APPROVED RENEWED COMPOSITION OF THE GOVERNMENT

    At the extraordinary plenary session on July 15, Georgian Parliament voted confidence in the renewed composition of the government and the governmental program “Freedom, Rapid Development, Wellbeing”. 101 MPs voted pro, while 12 – contra.


    SHALVA TADUMADZE APPROVED AS MAIN PROSECUTOR

    At the extraordinary plenary session today, Georgian Parliament approved Shalva Tadumadze as Main Prosecutor. 101 MPs voted pro, while 2 – contra.

    IN JUNE, LIVING WAGE WENT DOWN

    Sakstat reported that living wage for average consumer amounted in June to 153.2 lari.

    In comparison with March (i.e. quarter-on-quarter), living wage has decreased by 2.2%, while in comparison with the same period of 2017 (i.e. year-on-year) – by 0.8%.


    IN JANUARY-JUNE, EXPORT INCREASED BY 28.8% Y-O-Y, IMPORT – BY 23%

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which foreign commodity trade turnover (without unorganized trade) amounted in January-June to $5.99 billion, increasing by 24.5% year-on-year.

    At that, Georgia’s export made up $1.59 billion (growth – 28.8%), while import to the country – $4.39 billion (growth – 23%).


    PRIME MINISTER: WE DECIDED TO CLOSE ALL MINES

    “We made the decision that all mines will be closed”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared. “These mines will be closed until both criminal investigation and international technical expertise do not come fully to the end in respect of these mines condition”, he said.


    MINISTER OF ECONOMY: WE WILL DEVELOP STRATEGY OF SUBSOIL MASTERING

    Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kobulia declared that strategy of subsoil mastering will be developed until end of the current year. “We are working in the mentioned direction now and we assume that we will manage to adopt it until end of the year”, he said.


    THE STATE PROGRAM APPROVED FOR INTRODUCTION OF INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS AND BRANDING IN AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVES

    Georgian government approved the state program on introduction of international standards and branding in agricultural cooperatives.

    According to respective resolution of the government, financing of the program will be conducted from funds, allocated in 2018-2019 to Agricultural Cooperatives Agency from the state budget.
