IMF: UPON COMPLETION OF THE SECOND REVIEW, ABOUT $43.6M WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR GEORGIA
The IMF mission completed in Georgia the second review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program, the IMF representation reported. This mission will present the report to the IMF’s executive board for discussion and decision, which is expected in June.
GEORGIA DISCUSSED DEEPENING OF COOPERATION WITH IAEA
Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili met with director general of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano in Tbilisi today. At the meeting, the parties discussed prospects of deepening of cooperation in sphere of nuclear and radiation safety, Georgian ministry said.
IN Q1, IMPORT OF AVIATION KEROSENE INCREASED Y-O-Y BY 40.7%, IMPORT OF BITUMEN DECREASED BY 14.9%
For the first three months of the year, Georgia’s import of aviation kerosene totaled to 15,200 t, increasing by 40.7% year-on-year, Union of Oil-Products Importers reported.
Such growth of import is connected with growth of number of international flights via Georgian airports, which is related in its turn to growth of number of visitors, the Union explained.
MINISTRY OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE: 24-KM KVESHETI-KOBI ROAD SECTION TO BE BUILT WITH FINANCING OF ADB
Asian Development Bank (ADB) will finance construction of 24-km Kvesheti-Kobi section, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported. This section is part of the highway Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars, leading to Russian boarder (Lars checkpoint) and having international importance.
FINANCE MINISTRY: CONSTRUCTION OF TUNNEL IN DIRECTION OF KAZBEGI WITH ASSISTANCE OF ADB IS CONSIDERED
Assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB) to construction of tunnel in direction of Kazbegi (Mtskheta-Mtianeti region) is considered, Georgian Finance Ministry reported.
The subject was discussed at the meeting on April 16 between the Finance Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and ADB director for Central and West Asia Werner Liepach.
DESIGNING OF ROAD SECTION ON RIKOTI PASS IS PLANNED TO COMPLETE IN MAY
Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure said that designing of road section on Rikoti pass is planned to finish in May.
The next stage will be announcement of tender for construction works, after which stage-by-stage construction will begin, the Ministry noted.
UNDP REPRESENTATION: TRAINING HELD FOR TRAINERS ON AGRICULTURE ISSUES
Representation of the UN Development Program (UNDP) reported that 30 local experts passed on April 16-17 training for trainers in agriculture development issues. The training was organized by UNDP within the EU-funded European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).
