    IN Q2, AVERAGE REAL GDP GROWTH MADE UP 5.5%

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which GDP in current prices amounted in the 2nd quarter to 10.17 billion lari. If compared with the same period of 2017, average real GDP growth made up 5.5%, while deflator increased by 4.8%, Georgian statistics service indicated.


    IN GEORGIA, MULTIINDICATOR CLUSTER STUDY OF HOUSEHOLDS BEGINS

    Sakstat declared about start this week of multiindicator cluster study of Georgian households.

    As Georgian statistics service noted, the study will last for 3 months and will apply to over 14,000 households in Tbilisi and 10 regions of Georgia.


    GEORGIAN PREMIER DISCUSSED COOPERATION PROSPECTS WITH HEAD OF USAID

    Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, being with visit in the US, met head of USAID Mark Green in Washington DC, press service of the Premier reported.

    At the meeting, the parties discussed ongoing projects, which are implemented in Georgia through assistance of USAID and possibility of deepening of cooperation in education sphere.


    GEORGIAN ECONOMY MINISTER DISCUSSED DIRECTIONS OF COOPERATION WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE WB

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported about meeting with Mercy Tembon, regional director of the World Bank (WB) in South Caucasus, and other representatives of the WB regional office, which the Minister Giorgi Kobulia held today.

    As Kobulia declared after the meeting, “We spoke about that assistance, which the WB provides in infrastructure projects, as well as in direction of education and introduction of technologies”.


    CREATION OF GEORGIA-LITHUANIA BUSINESS COUNCIL IS PLANNED

    Georgian Employers Association declared that negotiations will be held on creation of Georgia-Lithuania business council. The subject will be considered during the 5-day visit to Georgia of representatives of Vilnius Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts.


    SECOND STAGE OF INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS IN TBILISI TO BE COMPLETED BY OCTOBER 20-25

    City Hall of Tbilisi declared that works, being conducted within the first stage of infrastructure projects in Tbilisi, are finished on all locations. The second stage will be completed by October 20-25, the City Hall said.


    UNIFORM VISUAL STANDARD OF TAXI CARS TO BE ENACTED IN NEXT OCTOBER

    Uniform visual standard of taxi cars will be enacted on October 1, 2019, Tbilisi City Hall declared. The City Hall noted that the standard will be approved by November 1 of this year.


    WITHIN DEVELOPMENT OF “NIGHT ECONOMY”, NIGHT BUS TO OPERATE IN TBILISI ON FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS

    Tbilisi City Hall declared that starting from September 21, night bus (00:00-06:00) will operate on Fridays and Saturdays on the route between Tbilisi subway stations Akhmeteli Theatre and Varketili. The route was developed within the “Night Economy” project.

    PARTNERSHIP FUND POINTS AT FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC VIOLATIONS IN REPUBLICAN HOSPITAL

    After audit, conducted by international auditor Baker Tilly, preparation of final assessment of financial situation in Central University Clinic (so-called Republican Hospital) appeared impossible, Georgian Partnership Fund reported.

    According to the Fund, that was conditioned by violations, revealed in financial and economic activity, and wrong management in clinic.


    TBILISI MAYOR: INTEREST TO UNDERGROUND PARKING ARRANGEMENT NEAR PHILHARMONIC HALL IS EXPRESSED BY “X2” COMPANY

    X2 company expressed interest to arrangement of underground parking near Philharmonic Hall in Tbilisi. Though, before making the final decision, the company has to conduct a technical study.


    “WIZZAIR” LAUNCHES FLIGHTS BETWEEN KUTAISI AND GDANSK

    Hungarian low-coster WizzAir launches flights between Kutaisi and Gdansk (Poland). It will be the only direct flight, which will connect the two cities, the airline noted.
