    GEORGIAN PREMIER: COOPERATION WITH NATO IS ON THE HIGHEST MARK TODAY

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili estimates that cooperation with NATO is on the highest mark today.

    “That progress, which we have in implementation of the core package, is of major importance, as well as important is political support, which Georgia receives from NATO member countries and Secretary General”, the Premier declared at the government meeting today.


    PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY OF THE GOVERNMENT BECAME NATIA MIKELADZE

    Natia Mikeladze is appointed the parliamentary secretary of the government, administration of Georgian government reported.

    Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili presented the new secretary at the government meeting today.

    IN JANUARY-MARCH, GEORGIA’S EXPORT TO THE EU INCREASED Y-O-Y BY 31.4%, WHILE IMPORT FROM THE EU – BY 26.4%

    Sakstat reported that Georgia’s trade turnover with EU countries amounted in January-March to $820.1 million, increasing by 27.6% year-on-year.

    At that, Georgia’s export to the EU made up $209.4 million (growth – 31.4%).


    IN JANUARY-MARCH, GEORGIA’S EXPORT TO THE CIS INCREASED Y-O-Y BY 48%, WHILE IMPORT FROM THESE COUNTRIES – BY 23.2%

    Sakstat reported that Georgia’s trade turnover with CIS countries amounted in January-March to $976.9 million, increasing by 30% year-on-year.

    At that, Georgia’s export to the CIS made up $303 million (growth – 48%).


    GEORGIAN PREMIER: IN FUTURE ACTIVITY, ADB PLACES EMPHASIS ON PROJECTS OF REGIONAL COOPERATION

    Asian Development Bank (ADB) will place emphasis in its future activity on projects of regional cooperation, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared at the government meeting today.

    According to the Premier, the region in this case is meant as countries, neighboring to Georgia, as well as countries of Central Asia, other regions of Asia and the Gulf States.


    CONSIDERATION OF INCLUSION OF TRADITIONAL GEORGIAN WINE IN SPECIAL LIST OF OIV PASSED TO THE NEXT STAGE

    Consideration of inclusion of the wine, made by traditional Georgian methods, in the special list of wines of International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) has passed to the next stage.

    While reporting this, Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture pointed that next consideration of the subject will take place on general assembly of OIV in autumn.


    MORE 14 VILLAGES QUALIFIED AS MOUNTAIN SETTLEMENTS

    The status of mountain settlement is applied to 14 more villages, administration of Georgian government reported. Accordingly, residents of these villages, located in municipalities Chiatura, Sachkhere, Kharagauli, Borjomi, Marneuli, Kareli, Baghdati and Tkibuli, will be able to enjoy privileges, provided by the law “On Mountain Regions”.

    “GEBRUDER WEISS” PLANS INVESTMENT OF ADDITIONAL 2M EUR IN GEORGIA

    Gebruder Weiss, Austrian transport and logistic company, plans investment of additional 2 million EUR in Georgia.

    As administration of Georgian government reported, the mentioned was announced by member of board of the company Wolfram Senger-Weiss at the meeting with Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, held in Tbilisi today.


    “SAKARTVELOS BANKI” ISSUED BANKING CARD FOR TOURISTS

    Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) declared today about Tourist Card, plastic Visa card intended for tourists, which is available in express service centers of the bank.

    The bank said that cost of Tourist Card makes up 10 lari, while funds (from 50 to 1,000 lari, both in national and in foreign (the US dollars, euro) currency) could be transferred to the account right upon its acquisition.

    THE PARLIAMENT’S COMMITTEE TO STUDY AIR POLLUTION LEVEL IN TBILISI

    The Parliament’s Committee for Environmental Protection and Natural Resources will study level of air pollution in Tbilisi.

    “The Committee’s study is that innovation in parliamentary life, which we introduce for the first time, in the pilot mode”, chairman of the Committee Kakhaber Kuchava declared at the news conference on April 18.
