SPEAKER: RULING TEAM WOULD OFFICIALLY NAME PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IN, PRESUMABLY, SECOND HALF OF SUMMER

The ruling team will officially name its presidential candidate, approximately, “in the second half of summer, in about July-August”, chairman of Georgian Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists today. Until that, naming the candidate is premature and only preliminary consultations took place in this regard, he said.




CIVIL ORGANIZATIONS: RULE OF PUBLIC FINANCING OF PARTIES WORSENED AGAIN

Rule of public financing of political parties worsened again, three non-governmental organizations (TI Georgia (Georgian branch of Transparency International), ISFED (International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy) and Georgian Young Lawyers Association) consider.

The matter concerns amendments to the law “On Political Association of Citizens”, adopted by the Parliament on April 18 (77 votes pro and 1 – contra).

THE PARLIAMENT CONSIDERS CODE OF SPATIAL PLANNING, ARCHITECTURAL AND CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY

At today’s session, the Parliament considered in first hearing drafts of the Code of Spatial Planning, Architectural and Construction Activity and related laws.

While presenting the drafts, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Irma Kavtaradze declared that the Code establishes system, hierarchy and structure of spatial arrangement and urban planning, rules of their development and approval.




NATIONAL INVENTORY OF FORESTS TO START IN THIS YEAR

Georgia will begin this year inventory of forests at the national level, which was never conducted in the country until now, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture declared. The inventory will be finished in 2019.




IN Q1, REMITTANCES TO GEORGIA INCREASED BY 22.4% Y-O-Y

National Bank of Georgia reported that remittances from abroad to Georgia amounted in the 1^st quarter to $354.97 million. If compared with the same period of 2017, the volume has increased by 22.4%.

OIL AND GAS CORPORATION SELLS 3M CUBIC M OF GAS FROM NINOTSMINDA FIELD

Georgia Oil and Gas Corporation announced tender for sale of 3 million cubic m of gas, extracted on Ninotsminda field (Kakheti region). The auction will take place on April 27 in the office of the Corporation.




COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: IN 2005-2016, AUTHORIZATION OF 9 ENTITIES WAS CARRIED OUT WITHOUT REGISTRATION IN BUSINESS REGISTER

National Communication Commission declared that in 2005-2016, following the existing practice, it authorized 9 entities, which were not registered in Georgian Register of Entrepreneurial and Noncommercial Legal Entities.

The Commission noted that the mentioned entities (including Russian NTV+, which authorization was carried out in 2016) had presented the registration-confirming documents, issued by foreign states.




“TRADE HOLDING” GOT BROKERAGE LICENSE

By order of president of National Bank of Georgia, license for broker activity was issued to LLC Trade Holding.

According to the Public Register, the company was registered in December 2016 in Tbilisi.

4 PERSONS ACCUSED OF VIOLATION OF RULES OF PARTICIPATION IN PUBLIC TENDERS

Investigative Service of the Finance Ministry declared about arrest of heads of 4 companies, accused of violation of rules of participation in state tenders.

As the Service said, the arrested had participated in the state tenders, announced by Tskaltubo municipality (Imereti region), while investigation established that they were in previous concert, agreed which company will have to win the tender.
