GEORGIA HOSTED MEETING OF CENTRAL ASIA REGIONAL ECONOMIC COOPERATION PROGRAM

Today, meeting of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program was held in Tbilisi, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported. The meeting aimed consideration of procedures for preparation of new long-term strategy of CAREC, the Ministry said.

INDUSTRIAL PPI IN MAY INCREASED BY 9.4% Y-O-Y

Sakstat reported that industrial producer price index (PPI) in May has increased year-on-year by 9.4%. In comparison with April, the index did not change.




AGREEMENT TO BE SIGNED WITH EIB ON ALLOCATION OF 250M EUR TO GEORGIA

Georgian government reported that finance agreement will be signed with European Investment Bank (EIB), aiming funding of Georgian project of transport communication (B).

By order of the government, the Finance Ministry received approval for signing of the agreement.




COOPERATION WITH ALLIANCE FOR FINANCIAL INCLUSION CONSIDERED IN NBG

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported about today’s visit of Alfred Hannig, executive director of Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI, a global network of central banks and other supervising organizations of developing countries).

At the meeting, president of NBG Koba Gvenetadze and Hannig discussed issues of cooperation, NBG said.

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared about purchase of $20 million at the currency auction today.

Weighted average rate made up 2.4082 GEL/USD.




AGRICULTURAL CROPS AREA IN 2016 DECREASED BY 9%

Sakstat reported that area of agricultural crops in 2016 made up 240,000 ha. This indicator is by 9% less than in 2015.




BOTH WHEAT AND CORN SELF-SUFFICIENCY RATES IN 2016 INCREASED BY 2 PERCENTAGE POINTS

Sakstat reported that rate of self-sufficiency with wheat in 2016 made up 19%. In 2015, this rate made up 17%.




REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE MINISTRY: REHABILITATION OF KIROVAKAN-KUMURDO ROAD SECTION WILL BE FINISHED THIS YEAR

Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported that Roads Department conducts rehabilitation of 10-km Kirovakan-Kumurdo section of Akhalkalaki-Kartsakhi road of domestic importance. The works will be completed this year, the Ministry pointed.
