AGRICULTURE MINISTRY: AFD TO SUPPORT ENTREPRENEURS AND FARMERS IN GEORGIA
Georgian Agriculture Ministry reported that French Development Agency (AFD) will implement in Georgia supporting projects for small farmers and entrepreneurs. AFD has opened the representation office in Tbilisi today.
“SAKPATENT” DRAFTED PACK OF LEGAL AMENDMENTS ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION
Head of Sakpatent (Georgian National Center for Intellectual Property) Nikoloz Gogilidze declared that the Center has drafted pack of legal amendments on intellectual property protection, The amendments aim fulfillment of liabilities, undertaken by Georgia within agreement on association with EU, he noted.
According to Gogilidze, trainings on intellectual property rights are organized for judges and lawyers, while for Georgian entrepreneurs and farmers, conference “Strategy of Branding” was held, which scoped presentation of advantages of the production, protected with geographical indications.
THE GOVERNMENT: ZUGDIDI POPULATION TO HAVE 24-HOUR WATER SUPPLY FROM THE NEXT YEAR
The government announced that Zugdidi population will have 24-hour water supply from the next year.
Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Regional Development and Infrastructure Minister Zurab Alavidze acquainted with building of centralized water supply system in the city today.
18.5M LARI ENVISAGED FOR COASTLINE CONSTRUCTION IN MALTAKVA
The government reported that 18.5 million lari is foreseen for coastline construction in Maltakva (Guria region, south from Poti). The project is financed from the regional projects fund.
“MOBITEL” OBJECTS TO TERMS OF THE TENDER, ANNOUNCED AFRESH ON MOBILE COMMUNICATION SERVICE FOR STATE STRUCTURES
LLC Mobitel (operating under Beeline trademark) declared that State Procurements Agency has announced recently tender on provision of mobile communications for state structures afresh, “changing the tender terms in the way, which does not allow Beeline to meet them”.
In particular, “The tender requires 3G coverage on 55% of the country, while Beeline covers up to 50% now and will cover twice more area in 3 months”, the company specified.
FMO SOLD ITS SHARE IN “TBC”
TBC declared that Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO) has sold its remaining stake of 4.4% in TBC Bank Holding.
The shares sold by FMO were acquired by a number of institutional investors from the UK, US and continental Europe, TBC said.
“BGEO” BOUGHT BACK 7,000 SHARES
BGEO Group has reported successful buyback of 7,000 ordinary shares. Weighted average price per share made up 30.55 GBP.
“TBC BANK” HAS 2.2M CLIENTS, “SAKARTVELOS BANKI” – 2.1M
TBC Bank reported that number of its clients totals to 2.2 million (after acquisition of bank Republic).
In its turn, BGEO Group reported that number of clients of its member Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) makes up 2.1 million.
“GEORGIAN AIRWAYS” TO START REGULAR DIRECT FLIGHTS TO LONDON AND PRAGUE
Georgian Airways announced intention to launch regular direct flights to London and Prague.
According to the company, flights to London (Gatwick Airport) will be started on May 15 and will be conducted twice a week (on Monday and Saturday).
SUBLIMATED FRUIT PLANT OPENED IN ZUGDIDI MUNICIPALITY WITHIN “UNIFIED AGRO PROJECT”
Agriculture Ministry reported that sublimated fruit plant Gemuani was opened in Zeda Etsera village of Zugdidi municipality (Samegrelo region) within “Unified Agro Project”.
According to the Ministry, investments in the plant total to $851,024, including grant of $250,000 and preferential agro credit of $484,512.
