    April 7, 2017 - Member of opposition European Georgia Sergo Ratiani believes that “It is impossible, the Parliament not to comment on agreement, signed with Russia” (the matter concerns agreement with Russian gas giant Gazprom).

    “Last year, Kaladze [Georgia’s Energy Minister] did not represent Georgian side, he represented interests of Gazprom”, Ratiani stated.

    April 7, 2017 - Deputy Healthcare Minister and director of Social Service Agency Zaza Sopromadze stated that there are about 1.6 million people in Georgia, who want to become beneficiary of social allowance.

    As of January 1, 2015, strength of Georgia’s population made up 3.73 million, so “it turns out that 42.9% of population want to get allowance”, Sopromadze said.

    April 4, 2017 - Publish Broadcaster announced contest on 9 programs, which should be launched from September. Duration of all announced programs is 12 months, while their total budget makes up 3.780 million lari, the newspaper reports.

    April 6, 2017 - National Communication Commission reported that in January-February 2017, Georgia’s population paid 67.8 million lari (VAT and excise exclusive) for mobile communications. In comparison with the same period of 2016, the volume has increased by 7%.

    April 5, 2017 - From Kutaisi Airport, which began operation in 2012, low-coster WizzAir conducts flights to Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland and Great Britain.

    According to the Georgian Airports Association, passenger traffic in Kutaisi Airport hit its highest point in 2016, totaling to 271,363 passengers.

    April 5, 2017 - David Aslanishvili, professor at Tbilisi State University, believes that “problem of liquidity in banking sector is obvious and unequivocal”.

    “Volume of refinancing loans clearly indicates real presence of the problem”, Aslanishvili says, adding that National Bank of Georgia (NBG) “actively interferes” in resolving of this problem and “thus, it issues quite a large volume of loans to banks”.

    April 7, 2017 - The newspaper reports that highest price on land is in Guria region, where 1 ha cost ranges within 8,000-15,000 lari. In Samegrelo, price of 1 ha ranges within 4,000-7,000 lari, but there are such areas also, where land price does not exceed 2,500 lari.

    April 6, 2017 - As distinct from hazelnut, which is one of Georgia’s key exporting products, deficit of walnut is observed in the country, Eugeorgia.Info points.

    Annually, Georgia produces about 6,000 t of walnut, of which Ajara accounts for 1,300 t.

    April 5, 2017 - Paata Khizanashvili, governor of Kvemo Kartli region, told Business Morning (program at TV Pirveli) about plan of implementation of Primera Golf project, envisaging construction of golf town. “Primera Golf will become the town, located on 330 ha, which will connect Tbilisi and Gardabani”, he noted.


    FORBES GEORGIA: ““HILTON” ENTERS TBILISI WITH EXCLUSIVE PROJECT”

    April 4, 2017 - In Tbilisi, Hilton hotel will occupy former building of Agriculture Ministry at Kostava Street, which street front will be maintained, the magazine reports.

    Merab Chikhradze, one of the partners of the project’s owner investment company Granati, says that investments will amount to 40 million EUR.

    April 3, 2017 - Head of Georgian Developers Association Irakli Rostomashvili says that in previous period, “scheme of advance sale was actively working and this was not “selling of air” as it is often called”.

    While “in 2008, two important things happened – August war and the world economic crisis”, Rostomashvili points, specifying that owners of about 60% of sold apartments “canceled payments, some of them due to bad economic conditions, some – due to uncertainty”.
