    FORBES GEORGIA: “WHAT TO DO WITH INCREASED POVERTY?”

    August 14, 2018 - The magazine publishes opinion of Zurab Chiaberashvili, MP from European Georgia, concerning poverty problem and universal healthcare program.

    The article indicates that UNICEF survey showed that 5% of general population, 6.8% of children and 3.7% of pensioners live beyond poverty line ($1.25 a day) and their number grew from 2015 to 2017 by 2.9, 4.3 and 2 percentage points, respectively.


    KVIRIS PALITRA: “ALIENS IN GEORGIA”

    August 13, 2018 - In 2012-2016, there were 34,024 real estate objects in Georgia, registered in ownership of foreign citizens, the newspaper reports.

    Statistics show that in 53% of cases, the real estate in Georgia is bought by citizens of Russia, being followed by Ukrainians, Armenians, Azeri, Israelis, etc., the article says.

    FORBES GEORGIA: “THE MOST EXPENSIVELY SOLD STATE PROPERTY – TOP 10”

    August 14, 2018 - In Georgia, most often on sale at electronic auctions are brought transport means and electrical devices, while the most expensive is real estate, the magazine says.

    Most frequently, the property is brought on sale by State Service Agency, which accounts for over 60% of lots, announced in the first half of the year.


    NETGAZETI.GE: “NBG MANDATE DOES NOT ENVISAGE COMMENTING ON THE RATE – NBG”

    August 14, 2018 - Netgazeti.Ge reports that National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared that its mandate does not envisage commenting on lari exchange rate.

    Netgazeti.Ge asked NBG whether devaluation of lari is connected with purchase by NBG of $17.5 million at a currency auction at the beginning of August, but “didn’t receive the answer”.


    BANKEBI DA FINANSEBI: “GIORGI TSUTSKIRIDZE – DEVALUATION OF LARI IS CONNECTED WITH SEASONAL FACTORS AND SERVICE OF EXTERNAL DEBT”

    August 13, 2018 - Giorgi Tsutskiridze, executive director of Georgian Banks Association, explains that “It is the truth that sharp devaluation of Turkish lira affects trade transactions, but devaluation of lari does not result from long-term and fundamental factors”.

    “I consider that devaluation of lari is connected with seasonal factors and service of external debt, and less with any purely economic or speculative factors”, Tsutskiridze posted in social network.


    FORBES GEORGIA: “WHY LIRA, LARI AND RUBLE DEPRECIATE?”

    August 13, 2018 - During a week, Turkish lira lost 12% of value against the US dollar, hitting the lowest rate after 2001, the magazine reports.

    The article attributes the depreciation by statement of the US administration about plans of reconsideration of admission of Turkish production to the US market without customs permission.
