Currency Market

Almost sole currency, on which the tradings on the Tbilisi Interbank Currency Exchange (TICEX) are held, is US dollar. The tradings take place daily, except for holidays.

According to results of TICEX tradings the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) sets the official exchange rates of foreign currencies. The rates of currencies, trading on which was not held, are calculated according to the Reuters’ rates. Since the US dollar is the only currency in which trading on the TICEX takes place on a regular basis, the NBG announces only its average sell/buy rate. However, currency exchange points trade quite actively with the euro and Russian ruble as well. Deals on other currencies have much less active character.
