Reportedly, Eduard Kokoiti, head of the self-proclaimed Republic of South Osetia, dismissed heads of force structures of the republic following the tension that arose between them. There was a clash between Kokoiti and Albert Tedeev, a representative of the Security Council, considered to be his friend until now, Guram Vakhtangashvili, a majority MP of the Tskhinvali region, told Sarke.

HEAD OF ABKHAZ GOVERNMENT IN EXILE IS AGAINST THE EXTENSION OF PEACEKEEPERS’ MANDATE

Tamaz Nadareishvili, head of the Abkhaz government in exile, thinks that the 10-year presence of peacekeepers in Abkhazia has proved ineffective. He has reiterated it is essential that Russian peacekeepers be withdrawn from Abkhazia and one of the UN Chart’s provisions regarding the peace enforcement put into force.

About 80 MPs, mainly majoritarian deputies, appealed to President yesterday to call the extraordinary session, Akaki Asatiani, Traditionalists leader told a news conference today. He said President had 48 hours to make a decision.

BUDGET FACES CRISES, EXPERTS SAY

According to the consulting company Damenia, Varshalomidze, Nogaideli and Kavtaradze the situation with the budget receipts are disastrous and the budget faces a crises. Budget receipts by June 30 account for 80% of a half-year plan, while the budget gap is 108.36 million lari, say experts of the company.

It is assumed to gradually decrease a single social tax, starting 2005, Irakli Koplatadze, head of the United Fund of Social Welfare, told news conference today. The current rate of the obligatory social tax is 33%.
