1. GEORGIAN GOVERNMENT DISCUSSED WITH DONORS PERFECTION OF INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE’S EFFECTIVENESS
Politics

Administration of Georgian government reported about meeting, held yesterday between the government and representatives of donors, where perfection of effectiveness, transparency and mutual accountability was discussed in regard of international assistance.

“International partners appreciated decision of Georgian government’s administration to establish unit for donors’ coordination”, press-service of Georgia’s Prime Minister declared.

2. IPM: 92% OF RESPONDENTS WERE AWARE ABOUT SIGNING OF ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT WITH EU
Society

Survey, conducted by Tbilisi-based Institute for Policy and Marketing (IPM), showed that 92% of respondents (400 adult residents of Tbilisi were polled in total) were aware on signing of Association Agreement with EU.

At that, 68% of respondents evaluated the mentioned fact completely positively, 14% – positively, while 3% had negative attitude, and same share had completely negative attitude.

3. GEORGIAN PRIME MINISTER: VISA-FREE TRAVEL TO EU IS NOT LONG-TERM PROSPECT
Politics

“There are all preconditions in order to introduce visa-free travels for Georgian citizens to EU in not long-term prospect”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared, while addressing to the 11th conference “European Way of Georgia”.

“Visa-free regime with EU has also a political meaning for Georgia, as our passports will became attractive for population of occupied territories of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region”, the Premier pointed.

4. FIRST CONTRIBUTIONS TO SOLIDARITY FUND WERE MADE BY STAFF OF THE GOVERNMENT’S ADMINISTRATION

Press-service of the Prime Minister reported that staff of the government’s administration and members of Economic Council and Crisis Management Council, established under the Premier, will make monthly contribution to Solidarity Fund.

To remind, establishment of Civil Solidarity Fund was initiated by the Premier Irakli Garibashvili.

5. STATE PROPERTY AGENCY: 2-QUARTER PLAN OF PRIVATIZATION IS PERFORMED BY 142%
Economics

National Agency for State Property declared that revenues from privatization amounted as of June 30 to 51.13 million lari. That means that annual target for privatization (80 million lari) is performed by 64%, while plan for two quarters (36 million lari) – by 142%, the Agency pointed.

6. THE GOVERNMENT PROMISES ASSISTANCE TO INVESTORS OF HOTELS IN THE COUNTRY’S REGIONS
Economics

Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure declared that the government launches new program for investors, who are interested in hotels’ construction in regions.

Namely, if the offered object lacks approaching road, the investor may submit respective application, the Ministry said, explaining that it will make decision on respective infrastructure’s construction after study of economic parameters of the project.

7. REALTY REGISTRATIONS IN Q2 INCREASED BY 3% Y-O-Y
Economics

National Agency of Public Registry published detailed data on realty transactions in the first half of the year, according to which number of such transactions in the 2nd quarter made up 127,450. If compared with the same period of 2013, the number has increased by 3%.

8. REVENUES OF MARITIME TRANSPORT AGENCY INCREASED BY 34.47% IN 2013
Economics

Georgian Maritime Transport Agency reported revenue of 5.2 million lari for 2013. If compared with 2012, this showing has increased by 34.47%.

9. GEORGIAN PORT CALLS DECREASED BY 3.05% IN 2013
Economics

Georgian Maritime Agency reported that in 2013, total number of calls in ports of Batumi, Poti and Kulevi made up 2,159. If compared with 2012, the number has decreased by 3.05%.

10. FREIGHT TRAFFIC OF “GEORGIAN RAILWAY” DECREASED BY 9.4% IN 2013
Business

JSC Georgian Railway reported that freight traffic in 2013 amounted to 18.9 million t. If compared with 2012, the volume has decreased by 9.4%.

11. TRANSIT ACCOUNTED FOR 61% OF FREIGHT TRAFFIC OF “GEORGIAN RAILWAY” IN 2013
Business

JSC Georgian Railway reported that out of total freight traffic of 2013, transit accounted for 61%, local traffic – for 14%, export – for 10%, while import – for 15%.

To compare, these shares in 2012 made up 60%, 15%, 9% and 16%, respectively.

12. RUSSIA EXPANDED LIST OF GEORGIAN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION, ALLOWED FOR IMPORT
Economics

Georgian Agriculture Ministry reported that export of onion, carrot, beet, capsicum, red sweet pepper, watermelon and melon to Russia is available since July 9. Russian veterinary and phyto-sanitary control service agreed on import of the mentioned products only at responsibility of Georgia’s National Food Agency, the Ministry pointed.
