GEORGIA’S PREMIER AND EC PRESIDENT DISCUSSED POST-AGREEMENT REFORMS

Today, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso met with Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Tbilisi. As Georgian government said, the sides have discussed reforms that should be conducted after signing of Association Agreement and prospects of visa-free regime introduction for Georgians, travelling to Europe.

GEORGIA TO GET 80M EUR FOR WATER SUPPLY’S REHABILITATION

Wilhelm Molterer, vice-president of EIB (European Investment Bank), signed the project agreement today with Archil Tsabutashvili, director general of United Water Supply Company of Georgia, and Giorgi Somkhishvili, executive director of Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, envisaging refurbishment and upgrading of municipal water facilities in Georgia. Within the agreement, which signing ceremony took place within EU-Georgia investment conference in Tbilisi, EIB allots loan of 40 million EUR, aiming maintenance continuity of the water supply, reduction of water leakages in the water supply system and improvement of water quality in 28 cities of Georgia during 5 years.

REVENUE PART OF CONSOLIDATED BUDGET FOR Q1 FULFILLED BY 99%

According to Finance Ministry’s report on the budget performance in the 1st quarter, factual revenues of consolidated budget made up 1.83 billion lari. Considering that target for revenues amounted to 1.84 billion lari, fulfillment made up 99%, the Ministry said.

Agriculture Ministry reported that National Food Agency opened in Ambrolauri regional office for Racha-Lechkhumi – Kvemo Svaneti region. The office is constructed with financial support of Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), the Ministry said.

“ACT”: HALF OF TBILISI RESIDENTS DO NOT BUY READY FOOD

Analysis and Consulting Team (ACT) declared that 50% of Tbilisi residents never buy ready food. Based of results of conducted survey, the company said that 15% buy such products 2-3 times a week, 9% – once a week, 8% – 2-3 times a month, while 5% buy daily.
