1. PRELIMINARY DATA: TBILISI MAYOR’S CANDIDATE FROM RULING “GEORGIAN DREAM” GOT 46.11%, ONE FROM OPPOSITIONAL “NATIONAL MOVEMENT” – 27.94%

According to Central Election Commission’s latest preliminary data (as of 18:00), voting results are summarized for 719 out of 729 precincts of Tbilisi. Candidate for Tbilisi Mayor’s office from ruling Georgian Dream coalition David Narmania got 46.11%, while his main rival from oppositional National Movement Nika Melia – 27.94%.

2. WORK STARTED WITH KFW ON PREPARATION OF PROJECTS FOR 2015
Economics

Georgia’s Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri met today with vice-president of German Reconstruction Bank KfW Eva Witt and representative of German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development Klaus Tanzberger.

According to Georgian Finance Ministry, the sides have discussed ongoing projects, implemented through KfW funding, and future cooperation prospects.

3. AVERAGE CONSUMER’S LIVING WAGE INCREASED BY 2.3% Y-O-Y IN MAY
Economics

Sakstat reported that living wage in May made up 135.9 lari for average consumer and 257.4 lari – for average family.

In the same month of last year, these figures were respectively, 132.8 lari and 251.4 lari.

4. EMPLOYEES’ AVERAGE SALARY DECLINED BY 9.1% IN Q1
Economics

Sakstat reported that employee’s average monthly salary in the 1st quarter made up 795.5 lari. To compare, in the 4th quarter of last year, this showing made up 875.5 lari (respectively, declining by 9.1% quarter-on-quarter).

5. SIZE OF RURAL POPULATION SLIGHTLY INCREASED

According to Sakstat’s report “Georgian agriculture in 2013”, size of rural population made up 2.079 million people by start of 2014. If compared with the beginning of 2013, the figure has increased by 0.3%.

6. TOTAL RETAIL INCOME FROM FIXED TELEPHONE SERVICE REDUCED BY 17.3% IN 2013
Economics

According to annual report of National Communication Commission for 2013, total revenue from fixed telephone communications service amounted to 79.5 million lari. If compared with 2012, the volume has reduced by 17.3%.

7. IN 2013, MOST COMPLAINTS IN COMMUNICATIONS WERE REFEREED TO SERVICE QUALITY

According to National Communication Commission’s report for 2013, communications ombudsman has received 143 complaints (referring to 145 issues), of which 77 were submitted in written, while 66 – via phone (oral).

Most complaints were referred to quality service (33 ones, i.e. 23% of total number), being satisfied in full.

8. COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: “MEDIAPRO GEORGIA” FAILED TO PROVE COST ORIENTATION OF SUBSCRIBER NUMBER’S PORTING TARIFF
Business

National Communication Commission completed administrative proceeding, launched for study and analysis of tariff, imposed on subscriber numbers’ porting service by LLC MediaPro Georgia.

As the Commission declared, MediaPro Georgia “has failed to prove cost orientation of tariff, imposed on subscriber numbers’ porting”.

9. IDFI: CONTEST’S TERMS, SET BY NATIONAL COMMUNICATION COMMISSION, CONSIST OF DEFINITE RISKS
Economics

Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) declared that contented lots, defined by National Communication Commission, bear risks of monopolization of air broadcasting.

Multiplex platforms (MUX-A and MUX-B), intended for open-air broadcasting, could appear in one hands, which will create monopoly for free-of-charge broadcasting, IDFI pointed.

10. MICRO-FINANCIAL ORGANIZATIONS’ INVESTMENTS IN CHARTERED CAPITAL INCREASED 4.5 TIMES Y-O-Y

National Bank of Georgia reported that micro-financial organizations invested 2.22 million lari in chartered capital in the 1st quarter. If compared with the same quarter of 2013, the volume has increased 4.5 times.

11. ALEXANDRE KURTANIDZE OWNS 70% OF “INVESTBANK”

Investbank reported that owner of 70% of shares in the 1st quarter became Alexander Kurtanidze. Remained 30% belongs indirectly through (Trendfor Holding Ltd) to Brenda Patricia Cocksege again.

12. COLD STORAGE LAUNCHED IN BATUMI
Business

Ajara government reported that cold storage facility, having total area of 800 square m, was launched today in Batumi. Besides cold storage, the facility has also warehouse of 5,000 square m.
