PRIME MINISTER ASSIGNED COMPETITION AGENCY TO PRESENT REPORT ON FUEL PRICES

Georgia’s Prime Minister has given 10 days to the Competition Agency for submission of report on fuel prices. As Garibashvili has declared at the government’s session today, prices on oil-products are declined in the world, but this process is not reflected adequately on Georgian market.

ENERGY MINISTER: DECISION REGARDING HYDROELECTRIC STATIONS IN RACHA WILL BE MADE ONLY AFTER COMPLETION OF STUDY

Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze reported that the government signed with investor a memorandum regarding study of potential projects of hydroelectric stations AlpanaHES and SadmeliHES in Racha region, which envisages 18-month study of environmental, financial, social and technical issues. “Only after that study, in full compliance with law, discussion will be launched on reasonability of construction permission’s issuing”, Kaladze declared at the special briefing today.

“KAZTRANSGAZ-TBILISI” FINED BY 5,000 LARI

National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission has imposed fine of 5,000 lari on Tbilisi gas distributor KazTransGaz-Tbilisi because of violation of licensing terms. The Commission warned the company that in case of new violation of terms for submission of requested documents, the fine of 15,000 lari will be imposed.

“HUALING GROUP”: OUR INVESTMENTS IN GEORGIA TOTALLED TO $500M SINCE 2007

Chinese Hualing Group declared that their investments, made in Georgia since 2007, have amounted to $500 million and “that figure will continue growth in future”. The company referred to Sakstat’s data, pointing that China leads in the 3rd quarter in terms of foreign direct investments in Georgia, while Hualing Group itself is largest investor according to the same data.

TWO INSURANCE COMPANIES ACCOUNTED FOR MORE THAN 71% OF TOTAL PREMIUM, ATTRACTED IN LIFE INSURANCE

State Insurance Supervision Service reported that out of total premium of 11.13 million lari, attracted from life insurance in the 3rd quarter, GPI Holding accounted for 50.5% (5.62 million lari). If compared with the same period of 2013, showing of this company has increased by 54.49%.

ANOTHER 3 ENTERPRISES TO BE ESTABLISHED WITHIN FRAMES OF “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM

At today’s meeting, the government approved establishment of another 3 enterprises within frames of program “Produce in Georgia”. Namely, hi-tech intensive livestock farming (milk-meat) and greenhouse, also hi-tech, will be established in village Mukhrani in Mtskheta municipality (Mtskheta-Mtianeti region).
