THE PARLIAMENT: RATIFICATION OF ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT WITH EU IS PLANNED FOR JULY

The Parliament declared that ratification of Association Agreement with EU is planned to be held in July. As speaker of the Parliament David Usupashvili said at the Parliament bureau’s meeting today, committee hearings on the agreement and ratification procedure are scheduled for extraordinary session, which will be held in July.

GEORGIA TO START NEGOTIATIONS WITH WB REGARDING ALLOTMENT OF $60M FOR REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Finance Ministry reported that the government starts negotiations with World Bank regarding support for the third program of regional development. As the Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri said, the government made a respective decision at he meeting today, assigning his ministry a negotiator on the subject.

JAPAN ALLOTS $5M FOR GEORGIA’S OUT-PATIENT SERVICE

Intergovernmental Georgia-Japan agreement was signed in the Georgian Finance Ministry today, being related to allotment of Japanese grant of about $5 million (500 million JPY). The agreement was signed by Georgian Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri and Japanese ambassador to Georgia Toshio Kaitani.

REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE MINISTRY: COMPANY “SINOHYDRO” CONDUCTS WORKS ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE

Regional Development and Infrastructure Minister Elguja Khokrishvili met today with Chinese ambassador to Georgia Yue Bin. As the Ministry said, the sides have discussed ongoing infrastructural projects in Georgia, involvement of Chinese companies in their implementation, errors in the already completed projects and ways of their correction.

CONSTRUCTION OF RED BRIDGE – MARNEULI SECTION OF THE GAS PIPELINE COMMENCES

JSC Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation declared that contractor company on construction of the Red Bridge – Marneuli section of the South Main Gas Pipeline will be Georgian LLC ComfortMsheni XXI. Tender on construction of 24-km section of 500 mm pipeline was announced in April.

BIDS INVITED ON “DIDKHEVIHES” CONSTRUCTION

Energy Ministry announced bids invitation on feasibility study, construction, ownership and operation of DidkheviHES (river Didkhevi in Kakheti region). Installed capacity of DidkheviHES makes up 1.3 MW, while annual output – 7 million KWh.

COMMUNICATION COMMISSION LAUNCHED 24 STANDARDS OF ETSI IN 2013

National Communication Commission reported that 24 standards of European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) were registered by Georgian Agency for Standards and Metrology in 2013, and respectively launched on the country’s telecom market. According to the Commission, among registered standards, 5 ones refer to digital video broadcasting, 7 ones – to electromagnetic compatibility and radio-frequency band of telecom equipment, while 12 ones – to IMT networks and ITS (intelligent transport systems).

MICRO-FINANCIAL ORGANIZATIONS’ PORTFOLIO: CONSUMER LOANS – 45.3%, AGRICULTURE – 23.4%, TRADE – 20.5%

National Bank of Georgia reported that as of March 31, total credit portfolio of micro-financial organizations amounted to 661 million lari, increasing year-on-year by 18.2%. At that, 89.1% of total loans (i.e. 589.1 million lari) is distributed among 3 spheres.

National Bank of Georgia reported that as of March 31, micro-financial organizations have attracted 475.4 million lari in total. If compared with the same period of 2013, the volume is increased by 14.1%.

“PROCREDIT BANK” INCREASED RATES ON PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS’ DEPOSITS IN LARI

ProCredit Bank announced that interest rates on private client deposits, placed in lari, were increased as of June 18. “In order to encourage and promote savings in the national currency, interest rates have been raised by an average of 2-3%”, the bank said.

“SAKARTVELOS BANKI” ADAPTS SERVICE-CENTERS TO NEEDS OF DISABLED PERSONS

Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) declared about adaptation of its service-centers according to needs of disabled persons. The adaptation envisages equipment of service-centers with access ramp and electric doors, the bank said.
