1. GDP GROWTH ESTIMATION MADE UP 5.2% IN Q2
Economics

According to Sakstat’s estimation, GDP amounted in the 2nd quarter to 7.175 billion lari in current prices. If compared with the same period of 2013, real GDP growth made up 5.2%.

2. AJARA MASTERED 6-MONTH BUDGET BY 115.9%
Economics

Ajara Ministry of Finance and Economy reported that Supreme Council of autonomous republic adopted resolution on fulfillment of 6-month budget today.

In the reporting period, budget of Ajara is mastered by 115.9% (the plan – 60.26 million lari), the Ministry said and added that revenues are increased by 2.08 million lari.

3. NEXT IMF MISSION STUDIES GEORGIA’S ENVIRONMENT
Economics

Next mission of IMF, led by Mark Griffiths, has studying now environment in Georgia.

Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met members of the mission and permanent representative of IMF in Georgia Azim Sadikov.

4. EIB IS INTERESTED IN NEW PROJECTS IN GEORGIA
Economics

Representatives of European Investment Bank (EIB), being with visit in Georgia, met Tbilisi Mayor David Narmania and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure David Shavliashvili.

“After signing Association Agreement with the EU, EIB has desire to deepen cooperation with Georgia”, representative of EIB Philippe Szymczak said, adding: “The bank offers Tbilisi City Hall a pack of long-term financing for municipal and infrastructure projects”.

5. GEORGIAN AND TURKISH ENERGY MINISTERS DISCUSSED STRENGTHENING OF COOPERATION
Economics

Georgia’s Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze, being with official visit in Turkey, met his Turkish counterpart Taner Yildiz.

As Georgian Energy Ministry said, the sides discussed strengthening of cooperation in energy sector, enhancement of cross-border trade and construction of new connecting infrastructure.

6. “ROSAVIATSIA”: REGULAR FLIGHT BETWEEN MOSCOW AND TBILISI RESUMED
Economics

According to Rosaviatsia, Russian federal agency for air transport, regular flights between Moscow and Tbilisi have been resumed.

Namely, web site of Rosaviatsia said yesterday that according to Georgia’s Foreign Ministry, regular flights on route Moscow-Tbilisi-Moscow resumed from September 15, 2014.

7. THE PRIME MINISTER: THIS YEAR’S VINTAGE WILL BE BETTER THAN LAST YEAR’S ONE

The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili assured that “This year’s rtveli (vintage) will be better than last year’s one”.

Today, Garibashvili has visited Kakheti (main winemaking region of Georgia), where he acquainted with course of vintage, visiting vintage coordinating headquarters in Gurjaani and state-owned wine factory Gruzvinprom.

8. LLC “WINE LABORATORY” TO BE HANDED OVER TO AGRICULTURAL SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH CENTER
Economics

According to the government’s decree, LLC Wine Laboratory will be handed over to Agricultural Scientific Research Center. The matter concerns free assignation of management right for 100% of state-owned property.

9. INVESTMENT OF $5M IMPLEMENTED IN ZESTAPONI FERROALLOY PLANT
Business

The US embassy in Georgia spread a statement today, reporting that Georgian American Alloys company has invested $5 million in introduction of new technology in Zestaponi Ferroalloy Plant.

„A true example of the US-Georgia trade ties, Georgian American Alloys mines Georgian manganese in Chiatura, processes it in Zestaponi, and ships it to the US, where it is forged into steel”, said embassy in a statement.

10. “GEORGIAN RAILWAY” TO TRANSPORT 600,000 T OF METHANOL
Business

JSC Georgian Railway declared about add of 600,000 t of methanol to its transit freight traffic volume. The company did not report about origin and destination of the freight, saying only that first lot of 5,000 t has already entered Georgian territory from Azerbaijan.

11. BIDS INVITATION FOR “MARELISIHES” ANNOUNCED
Business

Energy Ministry announced bidding on feasibility study, construction, ownership and operation of MarelisiHES, which must be built on river Bzholi in Imereti region.

Installed capacity of hydroelectric station makes up 4.6 MW, annual output – 19.7 million KWh, while estimated cost – $7.8 million.

12. HEALTH INSURANCE ACCOUNTED FOR 60% OF PREMIUM, ATTRACTED BY “ALDAGI BCI” IN Q2, AND FOR 86% OF REIMBURSEMENTS

According to State Insurance Supervision Service, Aldagi BCI attracted premium of 51.6 million lari in the 2nd quarter, occupying in this term the 1st position among Georgian insurance companies. However, this showing has decreased by 16.53% year-on-year.

13. MEDICAL INSURANCE ACCOUNTED FOR 56% OF PREMIUM, ATTRACTED BY “GPIH” IN Q2, AND FOR 77% OF REIMBURSEMENTS

According to State Insurance Supervision Service, GPI Holding (GPIH) attracted in the 2nd quarter premium of 45.9 million lari, occupying in this term the 2nd position. If compared with the same period of 2013, this volume has increased by 0.88%.
