Treasury Office of the Finance Ministry reported that the state budget’s receivables for January-September amounted to 6.5 billion lari. Thus, plan of 9 months is fulfilled by 99.5%.

IN 9 MONTH, STATE BUDGET DEFICIT MADE UP 181.85M LARI, WHILE CHANGE IN ACCOUNT BALANCE – 338.74M LARI

Treasury Office of the Finance Ministry reported that the state budget deficit amounted in January-September to 181.85 million lari (9-month plan – 737.31 million lari). In 9 months, revenues on the state budget amounted to 5.36 billion lari, while expenditure – to 5.21 billion lari.

FINANCE MINISTER AND REPRESENTATIVES OF IFC DISCUSSED ONGOING PROJECTS AND FUTURE PLANS

Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri met today with regional manager of International Finance Corporation (IFC) Investment Climate Advisory Services Lisa Kaestner and manager of IFC Global Tax Team Komal Mohindra. As the Finance Ministry reported, the sides discussed projects, envisaged by agreement between the Ministry and IFC, and future plans of cooperation.

GEORGIA AND LITHUANIA TO COOPERATE IN TAX ISSUES

Georgian Finance Ministry’s Revenue Service and Lithuanian Finance Ministry’s State Tax Inspectorate have signed agreement on cooperation in tax issues in Tbilisi today. As the Ministry explained, the agreement aims experience sharing in tax sphere, as well as fight against tax avoidance through information exchange.

Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that workshop “EU-Georgia Dialogue in Field of Road Transport” was opened yesterday in Tbilisi. The event, supported by European Commission, is organized by Georgian Agency for Road Transport within frames of TAIEX program (Technical Assistance Information Exchange).

GEORGIA AND UAE TO HOLD A JOINT BUSINESS FORUM

Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that Georgia and United Arab Emirates would hold a joint business forum (the date is not specified yet). That was announced at today’s meeting between Georgian Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and UAE Minister for Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi.

SHARE OF VISA DEBIT CARDS DECLINES, OF EC/MC CARDS – INCREASES

National Bank of Georgia reported that Visa accounted for 49.5% of total debit cards in circulation in the country by the end of September (against of 66.07% a year ago). During the year, number of these cards has decreased by 0.02% and made up 2.99 million.

National Bank of Georgia reported that Visa accounted for 63.58% of total credit cards in circulation in the country by the end of September (against of 78.63% a year ago). During the year, number of these cards has decreased by 1.49% and made up 939,293.

PARTNERSHIP FUND HAS FUNDED 12 PROJECTS WITH 285M LARI THROUGH 2012-2013

Partnership Fund reported that through 2012-2013, it has funded 12 projects with 285 million lari. The largest allotment was investment, made in equity of thermal power plant of combined cycle in Gardabani – 231.5 million lari.

WINTER TOURISM SEASON TO START ON DECEMBER 20

National Tourism Administration will officially open winter tourism season on December 20 in Gudauri and on December 27 in Bakuriani and Mestia. The Administration is going to hold special entertainment events on the opening dates, pointing that the resorts will be opened “regardless of snow presence”.

TUSHETI PROTECTED AREA HANDED OVER TO LOCAL AUTHORITIES

The government has handed over mountainous Tusheti protected area to local authorities. While reporting on the subject, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development pointed that this is the first case of forest management decentralization in Georgia, implemented with assistance of forestry program funded by EU (ENPI FLEG).

CONSTRUCTION OF RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX “SUN CITY” IS FINISHED IN TSKNETI

Residential complex Sun City (so-called Georgian-American village) was opened today in Tskneti (7 km from Tbilisi center). Total budget of the project, located on 13,000 square m, amounts to $15 million.
