1. OPPOSITIONAL MP: VICTORY REQUIRES TOTAL RENEWAL OF POLITICAL MOVEMENT
Politics

Oppositional MP and former executive secretary of United National Movement (UNM) Zurab Japaridze declared that UNM was not succeeded to pass test on responsibility assumption for a failure and renovation of the party.

“Survival of political force is important, but is not enough for achievement of the goal: victory requires total renewal and bigger openness of political movement”, Japaridze pointed in special statement, released today.

2. UNEMPLOYMENT IN 2014 DECREASED BY 2.2 PERCENTAGE POINTS
Economics

Sakstat reported that unemployment rate in 2014 made up 12.4%, decreasing by 2.2 percentage points in comparison with 2013. Statistics service pointed that unemployment in 2014 has reached the lowest mark for the last 11 years.

3. THE WB TO RENDER ASSISTANCE TO MINISTRY OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE IN MANAGEMENT OF PUBLIC FINANCES
Economics

Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure declared that it will receive assistance of the World Bank (WB) in questions of management of public finances. The mission of WB, working on the subject, held a meeting with representatives of the Ministry today.

4. GEORGIA AND WIPO SIGNED MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION
Economics

Memorandum of cooperation between the government of Georgia and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was signed today in Tbilisi.

The document was signed by Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and director general of WIPO Francis Gurry, being with visit in Georgia.

5. EPRC RESEARCH: DESPITE TECHNICAL SHORTCOMINGS, ELECTRONIC SERVICES YIELDED CONSIDERABLE RESULTS IN GEORGIA
Economics

Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC) and Estonian PRAXIS Center for Policy Studies stated in their joint research that, despite technical shortcomings, electronic services yielded considerable results in Georgia.

Within research, the organizations assessed 5 electronic services (electronic declaration, electronic procurements, electronic auction, electronic notary service and information on entrepreneurial and non-entrepreneurial legal entities).

6. ROADS DEPARTMENT: REHABILITATION OF 3 ROAD SECTIONS AND 6 BRIDGES IN KAKHETI AND TIANETI COMES TO THE END
Economics

Roads Department declared that rehabilitation of 3 road sections with total length of 23 km and 6 bridges in Kakheti and Tianeti comes to the end.

The works are conducted through financing of the World Bank, within projects on improvement of Kakheti regional roads and SLRP-III, the Department said.

7. PRESS SERVICE OF THE PRIME MINISTER: “PEGASUS” AND “CEFC” PLAN INVESTMENT IN GEORGIAN ENERGY
Business

Press service of Georgian Prime Minister reported that Israeli Pegasus and Chinese CEFC both plan investments in energy sector of Georgia.

The Premier Irakli Garibashvili and secretary of Economic Council, business ombudsman Giorgi Gakharia met with the would-be investors today.

8. PROFIT OF “CARTU” BANK IN Q1 INCREASED 17.55 TIMES Y-O-Y
Business

Cartu bank reported net profit of 11.53 million lari for the 1st quarter. If compared with the same period of 2014, the volume has increased 17.55 times.

9. PROFIT OF “BASISBANK” IN Q1 DECREASED BY 18.57% Y-O-Y
Business

Basisbank reported net profit of 2.28 million lari for the 1st quarter. If compared with the same period of 2014, the volume has decreased by 18.57%.

10. “SANTA” TO INVEST 600,000 LARI IN CROPS’ CULTIVATION AND REPAIR OF FARM IN TSALKA MUNICIPALITY
Business

According to order of the Prime Minister, 29 plots of agricultural land (total area – 197 ha) in Tsalka municipality (Kvemo Kartli region) will be handed over to LLC Santa for a period of 25 years. Annual rent fee will make up 33,000 lari.
