1. ACCUSATIONS AGAINST FORMER PRESIDENT AND INTERIOR MINISTER INCREASED
Politics

Office of Main Prosecutor has brought a new charge against former President Mikheil Saakashvili and former Interior Minister (then Prime Minister) Vano Merabishvili today, accusing them of organization of beating of MP Valeri Gelashvili.

To remind, last week the Prosecutor’s Office has accused Saakashvili and Merabishvili, together with several other top officials of the former government, of brutal disperse of protest action on November 7, 2007, illegal intrusion in broadcasting company Imedi and criminal seizure of property of Badri Patarkatsishvili.

2. TBILISI CITY COUNCIL APPROVED NEW CITY GOVERNMENT
Politics

Tbilisi City Council approved new government of the capital, including vice-mayors, heads of city services and heads of district administrations, at the meeting today.

Post of Mayor’s first deputy has been occupied by Aleksandre Margishvili, former deputy minister of culture and monuments protection.

3. FINANCE MINISTRY: OECD RECOGNIZED GEORGIAN TAX LEGISLATION AS CONFORMING TO INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
Politics

Finance Ministry declared that expert group of Global Forum of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) “unanimously recognized that Georgian legislation is in full compliance with international standards in terms of tax issues’ transparency and information exchange”.

Meeting of expert group of OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Information Exchange for Tax Purposes held recently in Paris, considering first report on Georgian tax legislation’s assessment, prepared by the Ministry.

4. INFRASTRUCTURE OF ANAKLIA PORT TO BE LOCATED ON 1,000 HA
Business

Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry declared that the government will provide area of up to 1,000 ha to investor of new deep-water port of Anaklia.

Legal frameworks and measures, to be made by the parties, for handing over the land will be adjusted prior to signing of investment agreement, the Ministry said in its official invitation of bids for the port’s construction.

5. REHABILITATION OF KVEDA SAKARA – SAZANO ROAD TO COMPLETE IN EARLY 2015
Economics

Roads Department declared that rehabilitation of first 13.4 km of Kveda Sakara – Sazano road of total length of 26 km will be completed in January 2015. Works on this road in Imereti region were started in September 2013.

6. REHABILITATION OF ROAD IN ACHI AND “KVIRIKEHES” RAILWAY BRIDGE COMPLETED, WHILE OF TETROSANI-KHUTSUBANI ROAD IS NEAR TO END
Economics

Ajara government declared that rehabilitation of 14-km road in village Achi, located on administrative border with Guria region, “where road works have been never conducted during 30 years”, is completed. Works worth 220,000 lari were conducted by tender-winner company Bondi-2009.

7. PROFIT OF “LIBERTY BANK” INCREASED IN Q2 3.07 TIMES Y-O-Y

Liberty Bank reported profit of 9.95 million lari for the 2nd quarter. If compared with the same period of 2013, the volume has increased 3.07 times.

8. “PRIVATBANK” CUT LOSS Y-O-Y IN Q2
Business

PrivatBank reported loss of 798,560 lari for the 2nd quarter. If compared with the same period of 2013, the volume has decreased 3.47 times.

9. “KSB” HAD LOSS IN Q2
Business

KOR Standard Bank (KSB) reported loss of 6.64 million lari for the 2nd quarter. In the same period of 2013, the bank had profit of 3.53 million lari.

10. ON BEIJING WINE EXPOSITION, GEORGIA WAS REPRESENTED BY 16 COMPANIES
Economics

National Wine Agency reported that 16 Georgian wine companies took part in 2014 Beijing (Yanqing) International Wine Exposition.

The list includes Kakheti Traditional Winery, Besini, Vaziani, Kakhuri, Wineman, Shalvino, Corporation Kindzmarauli, Teliani Valley, Winery Khareba, Kakheti Wine Cellar, Kindzmarauli Cellar, Telavi Wine Cellar, Shumi, Kimerioni, Dugladze Wine Company and Corporation Georgian Wine.

11. “MITARBI” TO PASS REGISTRATION OF APPELLATION
Business

National Center for Intellectual Property Sakpatent reported that application was received on registration of appellation, being submitted by Mitarbi, brand of IDS Borjomi Georgia. The application includes specifications of mineral water Mitarbi, sage sphere, specifications of deposit, etc., confirmed by the Agriculture Ministry.
