1. NEXT AMENDMENTS TO TAX CODE DRAFTED
Politics

Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri presented at the press briefing today draft amendments to Tax Code, pointing that they “envisage important mechanism of business assistance and stimulation”. He said that representatives of business sector were actively involved in drafting process and many initiatives were prepared exactly by them.

2. CONTROL OVER TRADE WITH VETERINARY MEANS TOUGHENS
Politics

National Food Agency declared that according to Code on Food/Fodder Safety, Veterinary and Plant Protection, registration of veterinary drugstores, veterinary clinics, pet shops, veterinary means production and wholesale objects, as well as veterinary beauty parlors will become obligatory since January 1, 2015.

On this stage, the Agency conducts control of these facilities, which has started in April.

3. SUBSIDIZING OF VINTAGE TO BE CONTINUED THIS YEAR ALSO
Economics

The government meeting has approved regulation “On Assisting Measures for Vintage of 2014” today. The document is not published yet, but Kakheti Information Center has reported, referring to Agriculture Minister Otar Danelia, that subsidy of Rkatsiteli variety (white grape) will amount to 0.35 lari per 1 kg, while of Saperavi variety (red grape) – 0.15 lari per 1 kg.

4. AGRICULTURE MINISTRY’S LAB SIGNED MEMORANDUM WITH NGOS
Politics

Laboratory of the Agriculture Ministry has signed today memorandum on cooperation with Consumer Rights Federation and associations of farmers, poultry and chees-makers.

“The memorandum lays the ground for close cooperation of the Agriculture Ministry’s laboratory with those organizations, which are interested in control of food safety and quality in the country”, declared head of the laboratory Lali Madzgarashvili.

5. ADB MISSION HELD MONITORING OF KOBULETI BYPASS ROAD’S CONSTRUCTION
Economics

Roads Department reported that mission of Asian Development Bank (ADB) had conducted 5-day monitoring of Kobuleti bypass road’s construction. The monitoring focused on project details, environmental and social issues.

6. RESTORATION OF BORJOMI FORESTS CONTINUES
Economics

Georgian representation of UN Development Program (UNDP) reported that restoration of Borjomi forests, burned during Georgia-Russia war in August 2008, is continue, being supported by UNDP and Finnish government.

As UNDP representation said, 17,500 trees of various varieties have been already planted, being under constant monitoring.

7. CONSTRUCTION OF TSKHENISTSKALI SERIES OF HYDROELECTRIC STATIONS TO BE CONDUCTED BY “RBI GROUP”
Business

Feasibility study, construction and operation of series of hydroelectric stations on rivers Zeskho and Tskhenistskali (Lentekhi and Tsageri municipalities of Racha-Lechkhumi – Kvemo Svaneti region) will be conducted by RBI Group, which won respective invitation of bids.

Regulation of the Prime Minister assigns the Energy Ministry to secure presentation of memorandum, planned to sign with the investor, at the government meeting.

8. MUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT FUND TO PROCURE PROJECTING SERVICE FOR STUDENT DORMITORY’S CONSTRUCTION IN TBILISI
Economics

The Prime Minister assigned Municipal Development Fund to procure study, projecting and budgeting service for construction of student dormitory in Tbilisi. The procurement will be funded from assignations of the Fund.

9. TOTAL PROFIT OF 1,031 PAWN SHOPS MADE UP 21.6M LARI IN 2013
Economics

According to Sakstat, there were 1,031 entities, engaged in pawnbroker’s business (except banks and micro-finance organizations) as of end of 2013.

Out of total number, 45.8% were operated in Tbilisi, 13.5% – in Imereti region, 12.3% – in Ajara, 10.6% – in Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti, while remained 17.8% were distributed among other regions.

10. “INVESTBANK” CHANGED NAME
Business

Investbank has changed its name, becoming Capital Bank since July. The bank has changed legal address too.

11. “PROGRESS BANK” COMPLETED Q2 WITH LOSS
Business

Progress Bank reported loss of 219,898 lari for the 2nd quarter. In the same period of 2013, the bank had profit of 236,175 lari.
