    During the visit Mr. Arthur Rasi-Zade met with President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze, Chairman of Parliament Zurab Zhvania and State Minister Niko Lekishvili. The Azerbaijanian delegation visited Poti and Supsa, where they examined a terminal under construction, which next spring will receive the first consignment of Azerbaijanian petroleum.

Spreading the rumors this autumn, according to which the central authorities have tried to overthrow Chairman of Supreme Council of Ajara Aslan Abashidze, caused the tension.

  4. SUPREME COUNCIL OF ABKHAZIAN AUTONOMOUS REPUBLIC SUSPENDS THE POWERS OF MP BORIS KAKUBAVA

    Chairman of Supreme Council of Abkhazia Tamaz Nadareishvili has informed about it. According to him, the activity of Mr. Kakubava, who heads the Coordination Council of the Organizations for Refugees, contravenes the policy of Supreme Council of Abkhazia.

  5. EDUARD SHEVARDNADZE MEETS WITH WILLIAM CORTNEY, ASSISTANT OF US PRESIDENT

    Yesterday President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze received William Courtney, the former US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia, and now the head director of US National Security Council. The meeting marked that the relations between the two countries have been significantly activated.

    The question of allocation of a credit in 5 million Lari on rehabilitation of tea industry will be discussed at the today’s Tbilisi meeting of Chairman of Parliament Zurab Zhvania with the heads of administrations of tea-producing regions – Samegrelo, Guria and Imereti. The administration of the ministry of agriculture and food-stuffs will attend the meeting as well.

  12. GEORGIAN PRODUCERS OF WINES PARTICIPATED IN THE MOSCOW EXHIBITION

    An exhibition Interdrinks-97, organized by Russian-Italian firm Interexpo, was held on November 25-28 at Moscow Exhibition Center. About 250 kinds of wines were submitted from various countries, including Russia, Moldova and Italy.
