    According to the Statistics Department, as of 10 months of 2009, import of ready sugar ($9.5 million) reduced by 69.1%, while of raw sugar – increased by 77.3% ($35.7 million). The key import country is Brazil.

    Two Egyptian companies will start operation in Kutaisi free industrial zone from December 20, Mikheil Tigishvili, director of LLC Georgia International Holding, has informed Sarke. The matter concerns companies Kastur and El Gawad, which are going to invest $250 million in total during 2010.

  5. SAKKABELI TO LAUNCH EXPORT TO SOUTH CAUCASUS

    Edisher Mamaladze, supervision board chairman of JSC Sakkabeli (Georgian Cable), has declared to Sarke that the company plans export to Armenia and Azerbaijan next year. Expected volume of export is not specified at this stage.

  6. Rezonansi: “NUMBER OF FREE INDUSTRIAL ZONES DOUBTFULLY INCREASES”

    According to the draft bill “On Free Industrial Zones”, such zones should be created in 4 cities – Tbilisi, Kutaisi (2 zones), Batumi and Poti.

    Rustavi zone may be added to the number as well.

    Economic Development Minister Zurab Pololikashvili told Sarke that deadline for bank guarantee submission by Egyptian company Fresh, an operator of the free industrial zone in Kutaisi, is postponed for several months. To remind, the company had to present guarantee for 20 million EUR by the end of 2009.

    Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) launched a new service Solo since today. According to Irakli Gilauri, director general of the bank, Solo is intended for middle and high-income customers, who need service of personal banker.

    National Communication Commission reports that LLC Akhali Kselebi applied to the Commission with request to modify its licenses on numeration resource use. The matter concerns abandonment of 2,000 numbers in Kutaisi.

    Finnish company Vianor (daughter tyre chain of Nokian) opened first service-center in Tbilisi (Kakheti Highway). The service-center is managed by Sena Auto – official dealer of the company in Georgia.

  18. MUNICIPALITIES WILL RECEIVE EXCAVATORS WITHIN JAPAN GRANT

    On the order of the government, Georgian Municipal Development Fund will hand over excavators to municipalities and self-governing bodies within the frame of Japanese grant.

    The matter concerns municipalities of Akhaltsikhe, Kaspi, Kutaisi, Lentekhi, Marneuli, Mtskheta, Oni, Ozurgeti, Sagarejo, Signagi and Tsalenjikha.
