    Salome Samadashvili, Georgia’s permanent representative in the European Union, decalres that negotiations on association and free trade with EU will be completed by the end of 2013.

    During annual ambassadorial, held in Tbilisi yesterday, Samadashvili expressed a hope that by the end of 2013 Georgian citizens would have an opportunity to travel visa-free to the Shengen countries.

  2. “CHARKHMSHENI” FIXED LOSS AGAIN

    JSC Charkhmsheni (Tbilisi enterprise, engaged in repair of metal-cutting lathes and manufacturing iron and non-ferrous metalware) reported loss of 90,325 lari for 6 months of the year.

    It should be noted that the JSC fixed loss of 165,057 lari in 2010 and 85,308 lari in 2011.

    GWP (Tbilisi water company) reported that arrangement of water metering units in multistorey residential buildings is underway in different districts of Tbilisi from July. By August, works were completed in 35 such houses.

    TAV Georgia (Tbilisi and Batumi airports’ operator) announced intention to invest additional $65 million in Tbilisi International Airport. In exchange of this investment, the company’s right on Tbilisi airport management was extended until November 2037 (i.e. by 10 years and 9 months).

    The article provides information on assets of billionaire Badri Patarkatsishvili, which were appropriated after his death by his partner Vano Chkhartishvili (former chairman of supervisory board of United Georgian Bank and former minister of economy).

    Due to that, Patarkatsishvili’s family litigates with Chkhartishvili, while Yves Baumann, manager of Patarkatsishvili’s trust, has filed a suit to the Prosecutor General’s Office on June 20.

  6. “GEORGIAN RAILWAY” SPENT 1.34M LARI FOR LAND BUYOUT

    JSC Georgian Railway reported that 1.34 million lari was already spent for buyout of land sites in terms of railway modernization project.

    The company said that individual compensation is envisaged for each landowner, which includes compensation for companies for idle business period and premium of 30% for owners of buildings and businesses.

    Policy Institute of ISET (International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University) reported that the overall consumer confidence in Georgia increased slightly in August. Namely, the consumer confidence index (CCI) has increased from -23.4% in July to -21.8% in the reporting month.

  8. TBILISI’S SHARE IN TOTAL TURNOVER AND OUTPUT DECLINED IN Q2

    Sakstat reported that in the 2nd quarter, Tbilisi accounted for 71.7% of total turnover of Georgian enterprises (9.6 billion lari). In the 1st quarter, this share was 73.8%.
