   Investigative Service of the Finance Ministry reported about detention of Giorgi Goniashvili on attempt of especially large illegal income’s legalization. “Upon personal search, sum in lari, equivalent to $160,000, was removed”, the Service declared.

3. CO-INVESTMENT FUND INVESTED IN “BITFURY”

   Georgian Co-Investment Fund announced that it has subscribed for convertible notes of $10 million, issued by BitFury, at pre-money valuation of $250 million.

   As the Fund said, this financing “will enable BitFury to roll out its next generation proprietary semi-conductors, ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) and custom servers, supporting the world’s largest bitcoin mining data center development in Georgia”.

4. ECONOMY MINISTER: LARGEST PROJECTS IN TERMS OF LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORT DEVELOPMENT TO BE IMPLEMENTED, SUPPOSEDLY, IN SAMEGRELO – ZEMO SVANETI

   Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti region has the biggest potential for Georgian economy.

   “In next 10 years, largest projects will be implemented supposedly in this region in terms of logistics and transport development”, the Minister has declared at the business forum “Anaklia 2014” (May 31 – June 1).

5. Kviris Palitra: ““PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” STARTED”

   State program “Produce in Georgia” has started today, which will spend 46 million lari for agricultural and industrial production.

   Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili says in his interview with the newspaper that the program is calculated on establishment of new enterprises only.

   By the end of June, Redix Group is going to open aparthotel Le Port in Batumi. Founder of the company Lasha Papashvili declared that investment in construction of hotel, compliant with European standards, amounted to $10 million.

8. IDFI: MEMBERS OF COMMUNICATION COMMISSION HAD THE HIGHEST INCOME AMONG SELECTED AGENCIES

   Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) declared that in 2013, members of Georgian National Communication Commission Akaki Sikharulidze, Irakli Moseshvili and Sopio Britanchuk got the highest income (salaries, increments and bonuses) among selected agencies – respectively, 311,744 lari, 309,886 lari and 309,876 lari. These persons accounted also for the largest received bonuses or increments – 120,000 lari per each.

9. BREEDING FARM TO BE LAUNCHED IN SIGNAGI MUNICIPALITY

   According to the government resolution, agricultural land site of 732,501 square m with existing buildings in Signagi municipality (Kakheti region) will be given in 10-year lease to private individual Giorgi Bolgashvili. Annual rent fee makes up 7,760 lari.

10. NEWLY ELECTED COUNCIL OF “SAKSTAT” HELD FIRST MEETING

    Sakstat reported that its Council held first meeting with new members on May 27. At the meeting, Council members discussed future strategies and action plans of Sakstat, got information regarding preparatory works and planned measures of 2014 population census, Sakstat said.

14. GOVERNMENT SET UP A COMMISSION TO ORGANIZE EBRD MEETING

    The government has established commission in order to hold annual meeting of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Tbilisi.

    Head of the commission will be EBRD manager from Georgia, Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri, while deputy head – Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

    Head of supervision council of Caucasus Energy&Infrastructure Bidzina Bezhuashvili told Sarke that the company’s whole stake in MtkvariHES project will be sold to Mtkvari Holding.

    Shareholders of Caucasus Energy&Infrastructure approved selling of the project, being in agenda since 2011, at the general meeting yesterday.
