    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in 2010, revenue from selling of collection, investment and numismatic coins (available through NBG’s Money Museum in Tbilisi and Cash Center in Kutaisi) made up 1.3 million lari. The figure is almost doubled year-on-year.

  5. GPS STATIONS’ INSTALLATION ALREADY COST 1.5M LARI

    Soso Tsikarishvili, head of Justice Ministry’s Public Register, declared to Sarke that 1.5 million lari was spent on the first stage of GPS stations’ installation in Georgia.

    The World Bank alloted $450,000, which was used for hardware acquisition.

    According to report of JSC Matsne (press distribution in Tbilisi), the company’s net profit as of December 31, 2010 made up 200,771 lari. The volume is decreased by 29.7% if compared to 2009.

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development announced that Tbilisi will host the 6th Euro-Asian Road Transport conference of International Road Union (IRU) on June 16-17. Ministers of transport and infrastructure from 70 countries and top managers of 30 international organizations are invited at the event.

    According to the latest data, about 834,981 persons out of 4-million Georgia’s population use state health insurance.

    However, Biden’s official comment stated that Moscow and Tbilisi must settle issue of WTO membership on their own.

    Georgian Energy and Water Supply Regulation Commission announced about extension of interim manager’s terms of office in Tbilisi gas distributor KazTransGaz-Tbilisi until May 1, 2012 (i.e. by 1 year). It should be noted that the Commission made corresponding decision on April 28.

  16. DIRECT FLIGHTS TO CHINA TO START TOMORROW

    Chinese Chine Southern Airlines will start direct flights Urumqi-Tbilisi-Urumqi from June 9. Flights (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) will be made by Boeing-737, Boeing-757 and Airbus-330 airliners.

    According to research, conducted by European InitiativeLiberal Academy Tbilisi, 900,000 Georgian citizens (i.e. 22.9% of the country population) are migrants. At that, 72% of them send money to Georgia, and keep their families.

  20. GREENHOUSE FARMING TO BE DEVELOPED NEAR LISI LAKE

    The Georgian government authorized Tbilisi City Hall to change status of land plots in vicinity of Lisi Lake from non-agricultural to agricultural ones.

    According to Eka Burdiladze, head of the City Hall’s Department of Strategic Development and Socio-Economic Programs, the mentioned decision is caused by the fact that these territories are rich with thermal water, which may be used for greenhouses’ heating.
