    Delegation composed of 13 representatives of Russian travel companies has visited Georgia on July 7-11. The aim of the visit, being initiated by GTM (Georgian Tourism Marketing), was acquainting with Georgian tourist infrastructure.

    Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure warns the contractor companies to meet their engagements.

    As the Ministry said in its today’s statement, quality of works, as well as conscientiousness of supervision, implemented by respective bodies, will be controlled periodically.

  3. 18 ECOLOGICAL TEST CONCLUSIONS ISSUED IN Q2

    Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection reported that 18 ecological test conclusions were issued in the 2nd quarter. Among them, 12 conclusions were issued on environment impact of activities, subjected to ecological examination, and 6 ones – on construction (by administrative body in charge for permits’ issuance).

  4. 60% OF ZESTAPONI-SAMTREDIA HIGHWAY IS COMPLETED

    Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure declared that construction works are finished on about 60% of Zestaponi-Samtredia highway.

    Total cost of this highway building makes up 360 million lari, of which 93 million lari is subject to be spent this year.

  5. SPANISH COMPANY TO REHABILITATE WATER-SUPPLY SYSTEMS IN KUTAISI, POTI AND ANAKLIA

    Today, Georgian United Water Supply Company signed an agreement with Spanish Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios SA, which envisages development of water supplying systems in Kutaisi, Poti and Anaklia.

    The project with total budget of 59.5 million lari is financed by Asian Development Bank.

  6. “WIZZ AIR UKRAINE” MADE FIRST FLIGHT KHARKOV-KUTAISI
    (Daily News: July 1, 2013)

    National Tourism Administration reported that Wizz Air Ukraine (Ukrainian subsidiary of Hungarian low-budget airline Wizz Air) implemented today its first flight from Kharkov to Kutaisi.

    According to the Administration, these regular flights will be implemented twice a week.

  7. CONSTRUCTION OF KUTAISI-ABASHA GAS MAIN TO BE COMPLETED IN AUTUMN

    Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation declared that construction of Kutaisi-Abasha gas pipeline is expected to be completed in autumn. Works on this 47-km pipeline were started in late October 2012.

    Giorgi Sigua, new head of National Tourism Agency, declares that merely 57% of persons, who visits Georgia, are tourists, while the others are one-day visitors.

    Of total number, 38% visit Georgia for recreation and spending their vacations, 20% – to see their relatives, while 19% have a transit visit.

  9. NON-GOVERNMENTALS: HIDDEN POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENT IN MEDIA SHOULD BE BANNED

    Legislative amendments, drafted by non-governmental organizations, envisage ban for hidden political advertisement in media.

    Regarding political ads in pre-election period, the amendments restrict their daily broadcast time by 15% of total daily broadcast, demanding that any particular political subject should not have more than one third of this time.

  10. Versia: “PARLIAMENT BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED ILLEGALLY… AND THERE IS NOT A CONCLUSION THAT THE BUILDING IS STEADY!”

    Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) concludes that building of the Parliament in Kutaisi has unbearable working conditions – there is hot, while water leaks during rain.

    About 347.19 million lari was allotted for construction of the Parliament building and government house in Kutaisi.

    UniPay reported that new branch was launched recently in Tbilisi. The branch, located in Gldani district (Khizanishvili Street), is the second outlet of the company in Tbilisi.

  12. REHABILITATION OF KUTAISI-ALPANA-MAMISONI ROAD IS CONDUCTED IN TWO LOTS
    (Daily News: June 3, 2013)

    Motor Road Department declared that rehabilitation of 9.6-km section (116-125 km) of Kutaisi-Alpana-Mamisoni road, which was started in summer 2012, will be completed in November.

    Works on another lot (rehabilitation of 5-km section (77-82 km) of this road), which have started in last December, will be brought to end by December 2014.

  13. REHABILITATION OF KUTAISI-ALPANA-MAMISONI ROAD TO BE COMPLETED IN AUGUST

    Motor Road Department reported that rehabilitation of road Kutaisi-Alpana-Mamisoni will be brought to end in August. Works on this 8-km road have started in July 2012.

  14. “BELAVIA” STARTED DIRECT FLIGHTS TO MINSK FROM KUTAISI

    Belorussian air company Belavia implemented today its first direct flight to Minsk from David Agmashenebeli International Airport of Kutaisi. The company, which already has direct flights between Minsk and Tbilisi and Batumi, will implement Kutaisi flights 3 times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).

  15. CONSTRUCTION OF NEW LANDFILL IN KUTAISI TO START IN 2014
    (Daily News: May 28, 2013)

    Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry reported that construction of new trash dump in Kutaisi will be launched in 2014 and should be completed by end of 2015. Besides Imereti region, the landfill will serve Racha-Lechkhumi as well.

  16. REHABILITATION OF KUTAISI-TSKALTUBO-TSAGERI-LENTEKHI-LASDILI ROAD’S 2 SECTIONS IS UNDERWAY

    Georgian Motor Road Department reported that rehabilitation of 88.2-99 km section of Kutaisi-Tskaltubo-Tsageri-Lentekhi-Lasdili road will be completed in September. Rehabilitation of another section of this road (50-63 km) will last until May of next year.

    National Communication Commission reported that number of fixed phone users made up 1.28 million as the 4th quarter of 2012. If compared with the same period of 2011, the number declined by 4.5%.

  18. IDFI: HIGHWAY CROSS HEROES’ SQUARE COST 114.86M LARI

    Data, requested from Tbilisi City Hall by Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), show that projecting and construction of highway across Heroes’ Square cost 114.86 million lari.

    At that, construction of highway section from Varazis Khevi to Tamarashvili Street cost 90.39 million lari.

  19. CONSTRUCTION OF KUTAISI BYPASS ROAD TO BE COMPLETED BY END OF THE YEAR, WHILE KUTAISI-SAMTREDIA SECTION – IN 2014

    Motor Road Department reported that construction of Kutaisi bypassing road will be completed in this December, while of Kutaisi-Samtredia section – in July 2014. These works have started in December 2011 and July 2012, respectively.

  20. THE GOVERNMENT ESTIMATES THAT 923.7M LARI WAS MISSPENT IN 2011-2012

    The Georgia’s government reported that projects, not targeting improvement of either social conditions or long-term economic environment, were funded with 923.7 million lari in 2011-2012.

    The Finance Ministry estimates that one-time effect of these projects in general economic growth made up 1-1.5%.
