    Mamia Sanadiradze, former owner of communications company Caucasus Online, insists that Vice-Premier and Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze patronizes current owners of the company Khvicha Makatsaria and Levan Karamanashvili, who have close ties with National Movement.

    Press-service of Kaladze flatly rejected the accusations, naming them groundless and absurd and saying that because of that they will not make any other comment on the subject, the article reports.

    Almost 2 years have passed since change of the government in Georgia, and during this period, the budget was never fulfilled, the newspaper says.

    If in 2013, the budget fulfillment failed due to underperformance in tax revenues, now, there is a gap in 6-month plan of grants and loans, which means that infrastructural projects are not implemented according to the plan in the country, the article points.

  4. CRIMINAL CASE LAUNCHED AGAINST OF HEAD OF TBILISI CITY HALL’S PROPERTY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

    Investigative Service of the Finance Ministry has launched criminal case against head of Tbilisi City Hall’s property management agency David Chedia, accusing him of jobbery.

    The Service insists that following order of Giorgi Goniashvili (brother-in-law of former Tbilisi mayor Gigi Ugulava, arrested on charge of large illegal income’s legalization), Chedia has drafted the City Hall’s decision on release of Gudauri Ski Resort from penalty ($193,500) for failed fulfillment of investment liabilities and brought the draft for consideration by the capital’s government.

  5. PRIME MINISTER PRESENTED NEW MINISTERS

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has presented new ministers at the special press briefing today.

    Deputy Agriculture Minister, lawyer Otar Danelia will occupy office of his former chief, while chairman of Motor-Road Department, lawyer David Shavliashvili – office of Regional Development and Infrastructure Minister.

    According to budget performance 6-month report, budget receipts amounted to 3.95 billion lari, i.e. 96.9% of the target. The budget has gap of 126 million lari.

    Director of Tbilgvino Giorgi Margvelashvili says that Georgian wine companies can secure themselves from Russia’s possible restrictions, if they will “apply to policy to be not extra dependent on Russian market”.

    However, he points that “Georgian market is already dependents somehow on Russian market”, noting that Russia accounts for over 70% in total export of Georgian wine.

  9. ECONOMY MINISTER: AFTER ENFORCEMENT OF DCFTA, INVESTMENTS, TECHNOLOGIES AND KNOW-HOW TO ENTER THE COUNTRY

    Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that after Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with EU (DCFTA) will enter in force, “Georgia will become attractive country for investors, resulting in growth of investments in the country, enter of new technologies and know-how, stimulation of appearance of competitive domestic production and new jobs creation”.

    “Besides that, enforcement of DCFTA will facilitate appearance of new enterprises and exporting production, supply of safe and hazard-free production to Georgian customers, development of public administration according to best European practice”, the Minister noted.

  10. Rezonansi: “CAR INSURANCE TO COST 100 LARI IN A YEAR”

    The newspaper reported that one of the conditions of Georgia’s Association Agreement with EU is obligatory car-owners’ liability insurance, which introduction is postponed by 4-5 years however.

    Despite that preferential period, it became known that besides obligatory technical testing, obligatory insurance will be introduced next year.

  11. CANDIDATE OF “GEORGIAN DREAM” WON SECOND ROUND OF TBILISI MAYOR ELECTIONS

    According to Central Election Commission, candidate of ruling Georgian Dream coalition David Narmania won the second round of Tbilisi mayor election with 72.47% (222,066 votes). Candidate of oppositional National Movement Nika Melia got 27.53% (84,350 votes).

  12. FOR “STEREO+”, MINIMAL BROADCASTING DURATION IS SET AT 8 HOURS

    National Communication Commission decided to set minimal duration of broadcasting for LLC Stereo+ at 8 hours, decreasing it from initial 20 hours. The Commission explained that the company requested modification of license because of “technical reorganization”.

  13. BUSINESS-DEVELOPMENT FORUM PRESENTS PRODUCTION OF 80 GEORGIAN COMPANIES

    Business-development forum, being organized by Agency for Innovations and Technologies, was opened in Tbilisi today.

    The event, which will last through July 12, presents production of more than 80 Georgian companies, about 150 innovative projects and inventions in various industries.

  14. GEORGIAN LARI HAS OWN SYMBOL

    Georgian lari has own symbol, which was selected at competition, announced in last December. The symbol, which design is based on graphical image of Georgian alphabet’s letter “L”, was created by Malkhaz Shvelidze.

    According to Liberal Academy Tbilisi, in 2003-2013, 85,000 ha of agricultural land were sold to foreigners in Kakheti region, 67,000 ha – in Kvemo Kartli, 33,000 ha – in Samtskhe-Javakheti, etc. That process became especially intensive in 2011-2012.

  17. LICENSE HOLDER FOR DIGITAL BROADCASTING PROVISION BECAME “STEREO+”

    National Communication Commission reported that LLC Stereo+ became holder of 3 licenses for radiofrequency bands, issued for digital broadcasting provision.

    The company’s license MUX-B authorizes transmission of open-air digital signal through countrywide network, while licenses MUX-C and MUX-D permit as open-air broadcasting, as well as commercial signal transmission (Pay TV).

  18. ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT WITH EU SIGNED

    Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, European Commission’s President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council’s President Herman Van Rompuy signed in Brussels agreement on Georgia’s association with EU.

    Garibashvili declared that European standards will bring success, prosperity and stability to Georgia.

  19. INVESTIGATIVE SERVICE ARRESTED DIRECTOR OF “IBERIA CITY”

    The Finance Ministry’s Investigative Service arrested director of construction company LLC Iberia City Giorgi Gogiberidze on charge of especially large sum misappropriation through fraud.

    As the Service declared, Gigiberidze’s company Iberia City signed agreements with customers in 2005-2008, undertaken liability to build two multistory residential buildings near Georgian Technical University in Tbilisi and provide them with flats there.

  20. GEORGIAN ECONOMY MINISTRY: SWEDISH COMPANIES EXPRESS DESIRE TO OPEN REPRESENTATIONS IN GEORGIA

    Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili, being in Sweden with working visit, held a meeting with Swedish Minister of Trade Ewa Bjorling.

    Kvirikashvili also took part in meeting with leadership of Swedish companies, being organized by Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Business Sweden association.
