2. GPS STATIONS’ INSTALLATION ALREADY COST 1.5M LARI

   Soso Tsikarishvili, head of Justice Ministry’s Public Register, declared to Sarke that 1.5 million lari was spent on the first stage of GPS stations’ installation in Georgia.

   The World Bank alloted $450,000, which was used for hardware acquisition.

4. PROFIT OF JSC “MATSNE” DECLINED

   According to report of JSC Matsne (press distribution in Tbilisi), the company’s net profit as of December 31, 2010 made up 200,771 lari. The volume is decreased by 29.7% if compared to 2009.

5. JSC “TELIANI VALLEY” FINISHED 2010 WITH PROFIT OF 258,000 LARI

   According to the report of JSC Teliani Valley, the company had profit of 258,000 lari as of December 31, 2010. In 2009, the company fixed loss of 1.45 million lari.

6. TBILISI TO HOST 6^TH CONFERENCE OF IRU

   Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development announced that Tbilisi will host the 6^th Euro-Asian Road Transport conference of International Road Union (IRU) on June 16-17. Ministers of transport and infrastructure from 70 countries and top managers of 30 international organizations are invited at the event.

   According to the latest data, about 834,981 persons out of 4-million Georgia’s population use state health insurance.

   “The rate is not too low”, the newspaper declares, but notes that the persons, left without insurance, demand involvement in the state insurance program, as they are not able to cover medical expenses.

8. “GULF GEORGIA” TO EXPAND NETWORK UP TO 100 FILLING STATIONS THIS YEAR

   Gulf Georgia (oil-products importer) plans to increase number of filling stations to 100 until the end of year, the company said. While by the end of 2012, the network should number already 120 stations.

   Kakha Kukava, one of the opposition leaders, declares that the US Vice President Joe Biden has demanded to stop blocking Russia’s membership in World Trade Organization (WTO) while meeting with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.

   However, Biden’s official comment stated that Moscow and Tbilisi must settle issue of WTO membership on their own.

    Georgian Energy and Water Supply Regulation Commission announced about extension of interim manager’s terms of office in Tbilisi gas distributor KazTransGaz-Tbilisi until May 1, 2012 (i.e. by 1 year). It should be noted that the Commission made corresponding decision on April 28.

13. DIRECT FLIGHTS TO CHINA TO START TOMORROW

    Chinese Chine Southern Airlines will start direct flights Urumqi-Tbilisi-Urumqi from June 9. Flights (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) will be made by Boeing-737, Boeing-757 and Airbus-330 airliners.

17. GREENHOUSE FARMING TO BE DEVELOPED NEAR LISI LAKE

    The Georgian government authorized Tbilisi City Hall to change status of land plots in vicinity of Lisi Lake from non-agricultural to agricultural ones.

    According to Eka Burdiladze, head of the City Hall’s Department of Strategic Development and Socio-Economic Programs, the mentioned decision is caused by the fact that these territories are rich with thermal water, which may be used for greenhouses’ heating.

18. DRINKING WATER SUPPLY IN GEORGIA REDUCED BY 35.6%

    Georgian Energy and Water Supply Regulation Commission reported that total volume of water, supplied in 2010, made up 449.8 million cubic m countrywide. The figure is by 35.6% down year-on-year.

19. ELECTRONIC TRAFFIC DISPLAYS TO BE INSTALLED AT 407 BUS STOPS IN TBILISI

    Tbilisi City Hall announced that already 20 electronic displays, showing information regarding municipal buses’ traffic (timetables), have been installed at bus stops.

    At starting stage, the process has been applied for those places, which are mostly crowded with passengers, the City Hall said.

20. CHARITY DINNER COLLECTED 1.5M LARI FOR IDPS

    Giorgi Chirakadze, head of Georgian Business Association, has declared to journalists today that charity dinner, organized yesterday by the Association, collected 1.5 million lari in total.

    General sponsor of the event was Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia), platinum sponsor - Rustavi JSC Azot, gold sponsors - mining companies Madneuli and Quartzite, silver sponsor - Silk Road Group.
