   Georgian Energy and Water Supply Regulation Commission announces that cases, when representatives of KazTransGaz-Tbilisi ask the consumers to pay for checking of the gas meters, became frequent in Tbilisi. At that, these employees of the company refer to allegedly existing decision of the Commission.

   Foreign press periodically reports on plans of Kazakh investors to leave Georgia, the newspaper says.

   This time, Reuters, referring to representative of Kazakh state company KazMunaiGaz Kairgeldy Kabyldin, said that Kazakhs consider selling of KazTransGaz-Tbilisi, Tbilisi gas distributor company.

    KazTransGaz-Tbilisi, gas distributor of Tbilisi, had sent notifications to its corporate users, informing them that gas tariff will be changed from August 1. The company has not decided yet, how the price will change, while experts expect that the tariff will grow at least by 10 tetri.

    According to TELASI, load increase 2-2.5 times in winter period, that is why repairs should be held beforehand.

    Kazakh gas distribution company KazTransGaz-Tbilisi has been send already for a few days notices to entrepreneurs regarding settling a contract on 100% prepayment of gas cost.

    In case of non-payment, the agreement envisages fines of 0.07% for each overdue day.

18. NATURAL GAS CONSUMPTION DECREASED BY 10.5% IN 2007

    According to the report of 2007, made by Georgian Energy and Water Supply Regulation National Commission, last year Georgia was supplied with 1.68 billion cubic m of gas, which is less by 10.5% compared with the previous year.

    The mentioned volume is by 2.5% less compared with annual forecast of Georgian Energy Ministry, which exceeded 1.7 million cubic m, too.

    As it is noted in the article, gas objects with the exception of main gas pipeline and cement plants, turned out in hands of Russian-Georgian and Russian-Kazakh business groups since the January 2006.

    Five large consumers operate at gas market, including Tbilisi distributor KazTransGaz-Tbilisi, as for regions – Itera-Georgia, Mtkvari-Energy (the 9^th power unit), Energy Invest (gas turbines, Rustavi chemical plant), Georgian Industrial Group (cement plants).

20. GIOGIE-2008 CONFERENCE WAS OPENED TODAY IN TBILISI

    The 7^th international oil, gas, infrastructure and energy conference GIOGIE-2008 was opened today in Tbilisi, which is held under the patronage of Georgian Prime Minister, Energy Ministry and Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation.

    250 delegates from 15 countries, such as Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, the US, attend the conference.
