  1. AGRICULTURE MINISTER: FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS, 700 ENTERPRISES EXPANDED/UPGRADED AND 150 NEW ONES ESTABLISHED

    Agriculture Minister Otar Danelia declared that “for the last 4 years, budget [of agricultural programs] has been increased 10 times, more than 26,000 loans were issued within preferential agrolending, 700 enterprises were expanded/upgraded, while 150 new ones were established”.

    The Minister pointed that “more than 700,000 beneficiaries is receiving assistance within project on small farmers’ spring works promotion, agricultural insurance is implemented and more than 28,000 policies have been issued in total”.

  2. SERVICE OF ADF’S CREDITS TO BE ACCELERATED

    Georgian government decided to accelerate service of credits, allocated by Asian Development Fund (ADF) of Asian Development Bank (ADB).

    In line with the respective decree of the government, acceleration method will be “scheme of accelerated repayment of principle sum”.

    Quality of this year’s harvest makes to worry owners of hazelnut plantations also, including those, located in Samegrelo and Guria regions, which account for 60% of Georgia’s total hazelnut production, the article states.

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met today with representatives of Latvian company Ferrus.

    Ferrus is engaged in manufacturing of tractors, but administration of Georgian government, reporting that Latvian company plans to do business in Georgia, indicated that one of its core activities is construction of tourist infrastructure.

    According to media reports, statement regarding not envisaged tariff growth belongs to Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission.

  6. ECONOMY MINISTRY DISCUSSED GEORGIA’S LATEST SCORE IN LOGISTICS INDEX

    Deputy Economy and Sustainable Development Minister David Khutsishvili met today with World Bank’s regional director for the South Caucasus, Europe and Central Asia Mercy Tembon.

    As Georgian Ministry said, major scope of the meeting was Georgia’s latest score in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (the country’s position has deteriorated by 14 points since the previous index), cooperation with the WB in order of its improvement and planning of joint actions.

  7. COURSE OF TAX REFORM DISCUSSED IN THE FINANCE MINISTRY

    Georgian Finance Ministry reported about meeting, held yesterday with representatives of Estonian Finance Ministry and audit company PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC).

    Partnership Fund declared that production of jamon (Spanish ham) will start in Georgia. For implementation of the project, the Fund signed memorandum of understanding with company Native Georgian yesterday.

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that 150 companies take part in national exhibition of Belarus, which was opened in Tbilisi exhibition center ExpoGeorgia today. The event will last until September 4.

  11. ADB ALLOCATES $100M TO GEORGIA

    Georgia and Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed agreement on the 3rd subprogram within “Improvement of Mobilization of Internal Resources for the Program of Inclusive Growth” in Tbilisi today.

    Within the program, ADB will allocate $100 million to Georgia, Georgian Finance Ministry reported.

  14. THE GOVERNMENT: “CARTU” FUND GRANTED MINIATURE PARK TO THE STATE

    The government declared that Cartu fund has granted recently a park with miniature models of Georgian architectural treasury to the state.

    Construction of the park was launched in summer 2014 and investment of more than 10 million lari was made in this project, the government pointed.

  18. HOLDER OF 95.9% IN “GEORGIAN GEOLOGY AND MINING NATIONAL COMPANY” PLANS TO BUY OUT MINORITY STAKES

    LLC Assets Management and Development Company, which holds 95.9% of voting shares in JSC Georgian geology and Mining National Company, plans to buy out minority stakes.

    According to respective statement, the company is going to demand mandatory selling of shares, which right is granted by Georgian legislation.

  19. ENERGY MINISTRY: ENERGY ARREARS TO TURKEY WERE RESTRUCTURED ACCORDING TO AGREEMENT, SIGNED IN 2015

    Georgian Energy Ministry declared that among other issues, agreement on cooperation in energy sphere, signed with Turkey in April 2015, envisaged restructuring of energy arrears too.

    Not returned volume of electricity, delivered from Turkey to Georgia in 1990-1997, had totaled to 1.7 billion KWh, while in line with the mentioned agreement, it was reduced to 1 billion KWh, the Ministry noted.

  20. OECD ANNUAL PLENARY SESSION TO TAKE PLACE IN TBILISI IN NOVEMBER

    Annual plenary session of OECD’s Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes will be held in Tbilisi on November 1-3, Georgian Finance Ministry declared.

    Almost 300 delegates from member states of the Global Forum and officials of 10 international organizations will take part in the Plenary Session.
