    GEORGIAN PREMIER: WE EXPECT CONSIDERABLE RESULTS FROM THE VISIT TO THE US

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze will depart on September 16 with official visit to the US.

    “We expect considerable results from this visit that will shift relations with our strategic partner to even higher level”, the Premier declared at the news briefing today.


    GEORGIAN PREMIER: LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES MUST POSSESS EFFECTIVE TOOLS OF CONTROL OF MARIJUANA CONSUMPTION

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated that “After ruling of the Constitutional Court in connection with marijuana consumption, there is the new legal reality – consumption of marijuana in personal space is considered neither crime nor administrative offense any more”.

    “After publication of this ruling, I charged to the Interior Ministry to draft respective bill, which would create very strict frameworks for prohibition of marijuana consumption in public space”, the Premier before declared the government meeting today.

    “FITCH” FORECASTS GEORGIA’S REAL GDP GROWTH OF 5.2% IN 2018, 4.9% – IN 2019, 4.7% – IN 2020

    Fitch Ratings forecasts that Georgia’s real GDP growth in 2018 will make up 5.2%, in 2019 – 4.9%, in 2020 – 4.7%.

    The forecast was presented at the annual conference of Fitch Ratings, which was held to Tbilisi today.


    NEW DRAFT BILL “ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP” SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE GOVERNMENT UNTIL END OF OCTOBER

    New bill “On Entrepreneurship” is drafted, which will be submitted to the government for consideration until end of October, report on course of fulfillment of the government program for 2018-2020 indicates. The report points that the draft bill underwent regulation impact assessment (RIA).


    WORK ON DRAFT BILL “ON PRIVATE ACCUMULATIVE PENSION SYSTEM” IS UNDERWAY

    Report on course of fulfillment of the government program for 2018-2020 indicates that work on the draft bill “On Private Accumulative Pension System” is underway. According to the report, the draft will be submitted to the Parliament during autumn session of this year.


    GEORGIAN PREMIER: LIMIT, WITHIN WHICH TAKING OF CREDIT IS OBLIGATORY IN LARI, INCREASES FROM 100,000 UP TO 200,000 LARI

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared that the limit, within which credit must be taken in lari only, increases from 100,000 up to 200,000 lari. The government considers expedient to extend this policy to leasing too, he noted.


    THE GOVERNMENT HOLDS CONSULTATIONS WITH KFW, AFD AND EBRD ON FUNDING OF INVESTMENT PROJECTS

    Report on course of fulfillment of the government program for 2018-2020 indicates that consultations with international institutes are underway on financing of various investment projects/programs. The report was presented in the Parliament on September 10.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: WE PLAN PREPARATION OF SPECIFIC INVESTMENT PROJECTS AND ATTRACTION OF INVESTMENTS IN SUBSOIL SECTOR

    Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kobulia declared that Georgia has very high potential of subsoil development. “For now, we plan binding of specific investment projects and attraction of investors”, he said.


    SINCE OCTOBER, USE OF ONE-TIME PLASTIC BAGS TO BE PROHIBITED STEP BY STEP

    The government adopted regulations, which gradually ensure maximal removal of one-time (plastic) bags from usage, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared at the news briefing today. The regulations will enter in force on October 1.

    “TI GEORGIA”: WE PAY MORE AND MORE FOR POOR QUALITY SCHOOL EDUCATION

    TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, indicates that financing of general (school) education in Georgia increased in 2018 almost twice in comparison with 2011.

    Despite this, quality of school education still remains at critically low level that is confirmed by international researches and official statistics, the organization declares.
