    CIVIL ORGANIZATIONS: CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS, OFFERED BY JUSTICE MINISTRY, WILL DETERIORATE ACCESS TO PUBLIC INFORMATION

    Georgian non-governmental organizations point that by initiative of the Justice Ministry, the Parliament could make amendments to just recently adopted Constitution, which will deteriorate constitutional standard of protection of public information.

    The organizations indicated that amendments, made in the Constitution this year, kept notion that access to public information can be restricted, if this information is state, trade, professional or personal secret.


    “TI GEORGIA”: DONATIONS TO RULING “GEORGIAN DREAM” BETWEEN JANUARY 1 AND NOVEMBER 1 OF 2017, EXCEED 10 TIMES TOTAL DONATIONS TO ALL OTHER PARTIES

    TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, declared that ruling Georgian Dream received 91% of total donations, received by Georgian parties between June 1 and November 1 (15.48 million lari). In other words, donations to the ruling party 10 times exceed total donations to all other parties.


    CHAIR OF COMMUNICATION COMMISSION NAMES CONCLUSION OF “TI GEORGIA” UNQUALIFIED

    Kakha Bekauri, chairman of National Communication Commission, regards conclusion of TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, unqualified. To remind, the organization stated recently that Bekauri does not meet eligibility criterion for occupation of his office.


    YOUNG FINANCIERS AND BUSINESSMEN ASSOCIATION: CURRENT APPROACH TO INVESTMENTS’ PROTECTION AND TARIFF REGULATION POLICY CONTRADICT EACH OTHER

    Young Financiers and Businessmen Association estimates that “current approach to protection of investments and basic principles of tariff regulation policy contradict each other”.

    “It is important to find “golden mean” between protection of investments, attraction of new investments and interests of population”, the Association declares, pointing that negative attitude of the companies is noted because of not reflection of conducted expenses in the tariff.

    NBG RAISED MONETARY POLICY RATE BY 25 BASIS POINTS

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that its Monetary Policy Committee decided today to increase refinancing rate by 25 basis points. Respectively, the rate makes up now 7.25%.


    “SOCIETY AND BANKS”: THERE ARE ISSUED 35,530 CREDITS, LINKED TO FLOATING RATE

    Organization Society and Banks declared that as of November 1, there were 35,530 credits, linked to floating interest rate (absolute majority – to refinancing rate). Because of today’s decision of National Bank of Georgia to raise rate of monetary policy by 25 basis points up to 7.25%, interest rates for borrowers of these credits increased, the organization stated.


    NBG FORECAST: INFLATION RATE WILL START DECREASE SINCE THE BEGINNING OF 2018

    In its last forecast, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reiterated that along with exhaustion of temporary factors, inflation rate will start decrease since the beginning of 2018.

    In November, annual inflation made up 6.9% that, along with other factors, was caused by growth of international oil prices by about 40% in the second half of this year, NBG specified.

    INVESTMENTS OF “ENGURHES” AND “VARDNILHES” FOR 2017-2019 HAVE TO TOTAL TO 131.8M LARI

    National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that volume of investment of LLC EngurHES, agreed with the Commission, have to amount in 2017-2019 to 94.3 million lari. Investments of LLC VardnilHES Series of Hydroelectric Stations are agreed at 37.58 million lari.


    “CITROEN GEORGIA” APPLIED TO COMPETITION AGENCY

    Georgian Competition Agency reported that LLC Citroen Georgia has submitted a complaint regarding coordinated actions within state procurements.

    The complaint, consisting of about 100 pages, will be studied within 30 days, after which period the decision will be made on launch of investigation, or on refusal of it, the Agency said.
