    COALITION OF CIVIL ORGANIZATIONS: QUALITATIVE REFORM OF JUDICIAL SYSTEM SHOULD START IMMEDIATELY

    Coalition For Independent and Transparent Justice urged the government “to start qualitative reform of judicial system immediately and apply changes, which necessity is recognized by local or international organizations already for years”.

    In current situation, “It is important, the government to recognize these systemic problems, existing in the judicial system, and really target security of independence of the court”, the Coalition stated.

    COMPETITION AGENCY: EU TO ASSIST RAISE OF HEALTHY COMPETITION ON GEORGIAN MARKET

    Georgia’s Competition Agency has announced that the EU will assist growth of healthy competition on Georgian market. Opening ceremony of 2-year project was held in Tbilisi today.


    PROGRAM OF EMPLOYMENT-ASSISTING SERVICES’ DEVELOPMENT BEGINS

    On March 23, the government approved program of employment-assisting services’ development. Respective decree has entered in force after publication (March 24).


    NBG: 25% OF ELIGIBLE CREDITS CONVERTED WITHIN LARIZATION PROGRAM

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that 5,617 banking credits, issued in foreign currency, were converted in loans in national currency within one-time program of larization, making up $78.66 million in total.

    Thus, the program resulted in conversion of 25% of total eligible credits, NBG said.

    LAND PLOTS IN MESTIA MUNICIPALITY TO BE HANDED OVER TO “NENSKRA HYDRO”

    According to the government’s decree, land plots in Mestia municipality (Zemo Svaneti region) will be handed over to JSC Nenskra Hydro through direct selling for symbolic $1. The matter concerns land plots in Chuberi village, totaling to 975,214 square m.


    CREDITORS OF “GOODWILL” DEMAND TO CHANGE REHABILITATION MANAGER

    Tbilisi city court reported that creditors of JSC Goodwill (hypermarket) plan to invite extraordinary meeting. According to the court’s ruling, the meeting will take place on March 28.


    LLC “GLC” GOT STATE PROPERTY FOR STORAGE FACILITY ARRANGEMENT

    According to the government’s decree, state-owned real property has been handed over to LLC GLC through direct selling with purpose of warehouse farming arrangement.

    The matter concerns non-agricultural land plot of 5,471 square m with buildings in Tbilisi (Moscow Ave. 25).


    “BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT” GOT STATE-OWNED PROPERTY IN KOBULETI

    According to the government’s decree, state-owned property in Kobuleti is handed over to LLC Business Development through direct selling.

    The matter concerns non-agricultural land plot of 591 square m with construction of 50.1 square m, located at Kaikatsishvili Street.


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: “NATURA TEA COMPANY” TO SELL PRODUCTION AT “AGROHUB” HYPERMARKET

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that production of LLC Natura Tea Company will be sold at Tbilisi hypermarket Agrohub.

    The company, which was funded within Unified Agro Project (preferential agrocredit), owns tea plantation of 50 ha in Ozurgeti municipality (Guria region) and is focused on ecologically clean production, the Ministry said.

    GEORGIAN TRADITIONAL FEAST RECEIVED STATUS OF INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE

    According to decree of director of National Agency of Georgian Cultural Heritage Protection, status of intangible cultural heritage was granted to Georgian traditional feast. Respective data should be reflected in the Monuments State Registry.


    NUMBER OF CONVICTS INCREASED IN 2016 BY 3.4%

    Sakstat reported that by the end of 2016, number of convicts made up 15,640 (including 838 women), increasing by 3.4%, if compared with 2015 (15,139), and by 43.3%, if compared with 2012 (10,922).

    Probationers accounted in the reporting year for biggest share – 6,730 (decrease in comparison with 2015 – 2.8%, increase in comparison with 2012 – 26.9%), while 3,828 persons were subjected to imprisonment (decrease – 13.8% and 13.1%, respectively).
