    Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation reported that corroded 500-mm sections of Saguramo-Khashuri gas pipeline would be replaced with 700-mm ones in order to increase rate of flow. Works would be implemented through co-financing of the Corporation and USAID.

    Association Global Star told Sarke that stars are awarded only for 2 hotels in Georgia so far – River Side (Tbilisi, Marie Brosset Lane) and Georgia Palace (Kobuleti, Agmashenebeli Str. 274). Criteria of assessment are based on common standards of European Hotelstar.

    JSC EnergoPro Georgia announced that it will inform its customers about arrears by sending a short text messages (SMS). Customers will get SMS in 2 days (48 hours) term before the expiration of deadline for electricity bill payment.

    JSC Sewing Company Imeri reports that net profit, as well as total profit of the company increased noticeably in 2009. Namely, total profit is grown by 22%, amounting to 271,414 lari, while net profit – 2.2 times up to 101,568 lari.

    Motor-Road Department reported that rehabilitation of bridge on river Tskhenistskali (western part of Georgia) will be conducted by the Georgian company LLC Enguri Avtogza. Expected cost of works is 1.4 million lari.

    Mikheil Tigishvili, director of LLC Georgia International Holding, reported to Sarke that Egypt companies Kastur and El Gawad would start production in the Kutaisi free industrial zone by the end of 2010. The matter concerns production of plasma TV sets, outdoor lightening equipment and refrigerators.

    Philipp Pott, director general of ProCredit Bank, said that the bank will launch branches in Akhaltsikhe and Samtredia in the second half of current year.

    Akhaltsikhe branch will be the second in Samtskhe-Javakheti region (after Borjomi), while Samtredia branch will be the 5th one in Imereti region (3 branches are already operating in Kutaisi and 1 – in Zestaponi).

    TaoPrivatBank reported that various bills could be paid through ATMs of the bank since the current month.

    Currently, the bank has 209 ATMs countrywide, increasing the number by 90% since January 1, 2008.

    According to JSC KutaisiGas report, the company’s losses from operating activity made up 528,000 lari in 2009. The figure decreased by 18.8% if compared to 2008.
