    TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, said that analysis of property declarations for 2015-2016 shows that “violations still persist on both central and local levels of authority”.

    While pointing that incomplete and inaccurate filling of declarations are associated with risks of corruption, the organization called officials to pay more attention to accuracy of data.

    Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation reported that SOCAR Georgia Gas Distribution will purchase 2 million cubic m of gas, extracted on Ninotsminda field (Kakheti region).

    Contract with the company will be signed in near future, the Corporation noted.

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission declared that “proceeding from need of detailed calculation for establishment of tariffs, the Commission cannot make preliminary forecast of future tariff’s size”.

    “The Commission and interested entities will be able to assess tariffs, to be determined for EngurHES, only after completion of the study” of technical and financial documentation, the Commission pointed.

    Within project on electricity transmission regional network expansion, Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) has completed total rehabilitation of Ksani substation (500/220/110 KV), Energy Ministry said.

    Rehabilitation project with total cost of 9.9 million EUR was funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB).

    Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Dimitri Kumsishvili declared that trade turnover between Georgia and Lithuania should be increased even more.

    “Last year, trade turnover with Lithuania increased, unlike with other countries”, the Minister said, pointing that turnover in 2015 made up $79 million.

  19. GEORGIA TO HOST FIRST INTERNATIONAL WINE TOURISM CONFERENCE

    On September 7-9, World Tourism Organization will hold in Georgia the first international conference on wine tourism, being attended by secretary general Taleb Rifai.

    As Georgia’s National Tourism Administration said, the conference will gather 250 delegates from 42 countries (half of them – foreign guests), representing more than 150 organizations.

  20. LIBE SUPPORTED VISA LIBERALIZATION FOR GEORGIA

    The European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) has approved granting Georgian citizens the right to make short-time visits to Schengen area without need to get respective visa, voting pro the respective report.

    The report was approved by overwhelming majority of the Committee members, Georgia’s Foreign Ministry stressed, noting that after voting and adopting regulation at the plenary session of the European Parliament, the amendment will be approved by the EU Council.
