DEPUTY ECONOMY MINISTER: GEORGIA’S FREE TRADE PARTNERS ACCOUNT FOR 71% OF NET EXPORT OF THE COUNTRY
Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Gennady Arveladze declared that in 2017, net export of Georgian production (i.e. excluding re-export) reached its historical maximum – $2.06 billion, of which 71% ($1.47 billion, year-on-year growth – 30%) is share of the countries, bounded with Georgia with free trade agreements.
Arveladze reported that work is underway on development of free trade regime with such countries as India, Japan, Israel and Arab Gulf States.
FINANCE MINISTER: LONG-TERM DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY NEEDS INCREASE OF INVESTMENTS IN DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES
Georgia’s Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani declared that until now, the state investments were made generally in improvement of infrastructure. However, it is not enough for long-term development of the country and it is mandatory to increase investments in development of human resources, he pointed.
HEAD OF FISCAL COMMITTEE: OPTIMIZATION OF OPERATING COSTS CONTINUES
While speaking today at the plenary session of Georgian Parliament, where the draft of the state budget-2019 was considered, chairman of the Fiscal Committee Irakli Kovzanadze welcomed, as he said, the continuation of process of operating costs’ optimization.
As Kovzanadze noted, ratio of operating costs to GDP decreases in 2019 to 20.6%, while made up 23.3% in 2018.
THE PARLIAMENT DISCUSSED NEED OF ANTI-DUMPING LEGISLATION
Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy discussed today the issue of need of anti-dumping legislation.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Gennady Arveladze, who attended the meeting, declared that his Ministry has drafted bill on anti-dumping measures in due time.
DEPUTY ECONOMY MINISTER: ON NOVEMBER 15, NEW REGULATION ON MARKET PLACEMENT OF SAFE PRODUCTION ENTERS IN FORCE
Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Gennady Arveladze declared that “on November 15, regulation will enter in force, which provides control in the country in respect of market placement of safe production”.
At the first stage, the regulation will apply to 4 types of construction products: fittings, cement, plastic pipes and electric cables.
TBILISI MAYOR OFFERED TO BANKS A COOPERATION WITHIN GREEN POLICY OF THE CITY HALL
City Hall of Tbilisi reported that Mayor Kakha Kaladze has met today with heads of commercial banks, to whom he offered a cooperation in implementation of projects within green policy of the City Hall.
According to Kaladze, bankers declared that they “plan full replacement of vehicle fleet with electric and hybrid cars, and will encourage cooperation in this direction”.

TAV Georgia (operator of Tbilisi and Batumi airports) declared that Ukrainian SkyUp would start Kiev-Tbilisi flights on November 23.
During the winter navigation season, the Ukrainian airline is going to make flights twice a week (on Thursdays and Sundays) by Boeing 737-800/700.
WITHIN “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA”, HOTEL TO BE OPENED IN KVARELI
Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry’s Agency Produce in Georgia reported that LLC Kvareli Palace was added to list of beneficiaries of hotel industry component of “Produce in Georgia” state program. The company plans to open in Kvareli (Kakheti region) 40-room hotel in March 2019.
DAIRY ENTERPRISE OPENED IN TERJOLA MUNICIPALITY
Georgian Agency for Agricultural Projects Management reported about dairy enterprise, opened in Siktarva village of Terjola municipality (Imereti region).
According to the Agency, LLC Zekari was created within “Unified Agroproject” with financial support of the state.
