    GEORGIAN PREMIER: SUCH KIND OF DECISION-MAKING, AS CANNABIS CULTIVATION, HAS TO BE RESULT OF BROAD PUBLIC CONSENSUS

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared that “decisions of such kind, as cannabis cultivation is in this case, certainly, are not made in administrative way; this is not handwriting of our team”. “It has to be result of broad public consensus”, he pointed.


    HEAD OF THE PARLIAMENT’S STAFF: WE DISCUSSED WITH NEW HEAD OF USAID OFFICE POSSIBLE COOPERATION

    Press service of Georgian Parliament reported about today’s meeting of Givi Mikanadze, head of the Parliament’s staff, and Peter Wiebler, new head of USAID office in Georgia.

    As Mikanadze said, “We discussed with the head of USAID office possible cooperation, such important directions, as active communication with bureaus of majoritarian MPs, assigning new functions to research department, strengthening of training center and possibility of their inclusion in arrangement of printing office of the Parliament”.


    DIRECTOR OF PENSION AGENCY APPOINTED

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared about appointment of Levan Surguladze as director of Pension Agency.

    Surguladze, born in 1958, was chairman of supervisory council of Caucasian Business Group until now.

    GEORGIAN ECONOMY MINISTER DISCUSSED ENERGY REFORM WITH DIRECTOR OF EUROPEAN ENERGY COMMUNITY

    Today, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kobulia received delegation of European Energy Community, headed by director of Secretariat of this organization Janez Kopac.

    As the Ministry reported, the parties discussed energy reform, being underway in Georgia.


    OPERATING SCHEDULE OF RTGS EXTENDED BY 1 HOUR

    Since today, operating schedule of Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system is extended by 1 hour, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported.

    NBG explained that this will allow banks to conduct transactions of clients until 18:00 on working days.

    GEORGIAN ECONOMY MINISTRY: “KOREA HYDRO&NUCLEAR POWER” DISPLAYED INTEREST TO LARGE INVESTMENT PROJECTS

    South Korean energy corporation Korea Hydro&Nuclear Power displayed interest to “several large investment projects”, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported. The Minister Giorgi Kobulia met with management of the company today.


    OFFSHORE PART BEGUN OF ANAKLIA SEAPORT CONSTRUCTION

    Within construction of Anaklia deep-water seaport, offshore works were started on September 16. Offshore construction is conducted by Dutch company Van Oord, which won the respective tender.

    COMMUNICATION COMMISSION AND ISFED CONTINUE MUTUAL ACCUSATIONS

    To remind, chairman of Georgian National Communication Commission Kakha Bekauri on September 14 named unqualified the intermediate report on pre-election monitoring of presidential elections (October 28), published on September 13 by International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED).

    On September 16, ISFED replied with the statement, indicating that accusations of Bekauri were “inconsistent, unreasonable and deprived of sense”.
