    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported about start of project, which envisages development of national policy/strategy and action plan in respect of transport.

    Expected duration of the project, which is implemented within technical assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB), makes up 12 months, after which expiration, support for developed action plan’s introduction is envisaged.

    Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri presented today his first deputy Giorgi Tabuashvili to approval by the Prime Minister on post of head of the Ministry’s Revenue Service.

    Former head of the Service, Irakli Gvaramadze, who had occupied the office since February, will continue work in the Ministry, the Ministry reported, not specifying his new position however.

    Press office of the government’s administration released a statement today, which reports that business ombudsmen Giorgi Gakharia will combine office of secretary of Economic Council also.

    “Roman Chkhenkeli (…) requested several times resignation from post of Economic Council’s secretary”, and the Prime Minister has satisfied his request, the press office said.

    Giorgi Kadagidze, president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG), declared that “Despite reflection of exchange rate’s fluctuation on some commodity groups, we do not expect inflationary pressure exceeding planned level”.

    Head of Georgian Oil and Gas Agency Giorgi Tatishvili says that investor companies “are engaged in exploration works, as extraction in Georgia is quite small, being implementing on 4 license blocks only”.

    Tatishvili reports that “now, only 2 blocks remain (without investor) – these are 5th license block in Western Georgia and 14th licence lock in Samtskhe-Javakheti”.

    As new head of National Tourism Administration Giorgi Chogovadze declares in an interview with the newspaper, “within my tenure, first major task will be to develop together with Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development a strategy and action plan and start their implementation”.

    “The focus will be placed on display of entire Georgia’s potential, as tourism destination”, says Chogovadze.

    Referring to data, enquired form Tbilisi City Council, Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) declared that between November 2013 and June 2014, the Council’s members received bonuses of 1.25 million lari, while the Council’s staff – 3.45 million lari.

    Both these figures exceed 3 times the showings, fixed in 10 months of 2013 (439,275 lari and 1.27 million lari, respectively), IDFI said.

  15. AGRICULTURE MINISTER: STATUS OF AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVES WAS GRANTED TO 376 ENTITIES

    Agriculture Minister Otar Danelia reported that as of today, status of agricultural cooperatives is applied to 376 entities, uniting 2,956 members.

    Among them, 99 cooperatives are established in mountainous regions, Danelia said, while presenting today 2-year activity report of the Ministry.

    The President’s press office reported that economic experts, after month and a half of working, have offered the President 5 candidates on vacant position of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) board’s member.

    These candidates are Levan Kalandadze, Nikoloz Kavelashvili, Emzar Jgerenaia, Merab Kakulia and Giorgi Bakradze, the press office said.
