    As ProCredit Bank has declared to Sarke, the bank plans to open 5 branches in 2011. Of which, 2 branches will be located in Tbilisi, while 3 – in regions (Kutaisi, Akhaltsikhe and Samtredia).

  2. $100M SPENT ON PROJECTS OF “UNITED WATER SUPPLY COMPANY”

    United Water Supply Company, serving regions of Georgia, reported that up to $100 million was spent on different projects in 2010.

    According to the company’s report, meters were installed to all legal entities in regions, 9,164 damages were patched, pips were replaced, service-centers were equipped, etc.

  3. SEMICOKE PLANT TO BE BUILT IN KASPI
    (Daily News: December 8, 2010)

    LLC Saknakhshiri GIG Group reported that semicoke plant will be built in Kaspi (Shida Kartli region), on part of distillery’s territory. Previously, among alternatives for the plant construction were Kutaisi and Rustavi as well.

    Amendments in law “On Property Legalization” envisage legalization of certain categories of property until 2012. The Parliament will consider the amendments, which should become effective in 2011, in December.

  5. WATER FEE IN TBILISI TO RAISE BY 31.3% SINCE DECEMBER 1

    According to decision, made by Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission (GNERC) today, consumer water tariff in Tbilisi will amount to 3.15 lari per head since December 1. This tariff will be effective until 2015.

  6. “ROMPETROL GEORGIA” TO OPEN 2 STATIONS THIS YEAR

    RomPetrol Georgia is going to start 2 new filling stations until the end of year, Tengiz Chichinadze, sales manager of the company, has told Sarke. In particular, one station will be opened in next few days in Tbilisi (the 12th km of Agmashenebeli Alley), while another one will be started in Kutaisi.

  7. KUTAISI AIRPORT TO BE UPGRADED WITHIN 6 MONTHS

    Upgraded Kutaisi airport is expected to launch within 6 months, Economic and Sustainable Development Minister Vera Kobalia has declared to journalists today. Existing runway needs rehabilitation, as well as the building (it should be equipped) and nearby territory, the Minister noted.

    Economic and Sustainable Development Minister Vera Kobalia has told Sarke that LLC Georgian Airports’ Association was created a week ago as structure subordinated to the Ministry.

    We are holding rehabilitation in many airports of Georgia and in order to finish works timely, there is necessity of such company, which will be in charge of monitoring and management, the Minister said.

    Georgian National Investment Agency announced about business forum, planned on November 22 in Kutaisi. Key focus of the event will be placed on service companies (hotels, food outlets, beauty salons, etc.).

    (Daily News: November 8, 2010)

    Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) announced that new, so-called SMS credit will be offered to clients, who receive salary through the bank. The service means receiving of consumer credit without visit to the bank, getting it through ATM instead.

    Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry reported that selection of contractor for Imereti by-pass road construction is underway. 10 Georgian and foreign companies applied for pre-qualification.

    United Transport Administration reported that, as it was in summer, only one Georgian air company (Georgian Airways) applied for permission on winter passenger flights.

    Georgian Airways carries out flights to Amsterdam, Athens, Dubai, Kiev, Minsk, Paris and so on.

  13. TURKISH COMPANY ACQUIRED BUILDING OF FORMER STEAMSHIP COMPANY IN BATUMI

    Former building of steamship company in Batumi has sold for 2.1 million lari on the auction today. Initial price was 2.04 million lari.

  14. “METEKHI CERAMICS” ACQUIRED NEW LICENSE FOR CLAY EXTRACTION
    (Daily News: October 28, 2010)

    Economic and Sustainable Development Ministry reported that JSC Metekhis Keramika (Metekhi Ceramics) had acquired for 44,844 lari license for brick clay extraction in Kaspi district (Shida Kartli region).

    The previous license has already expired, while new license will be valid for 20 years, the company told Sarke.

  15. AIR PASSENGERS TRAFFIC IN GEORGIAN AIRPORTS INCREASED BY 19%

    According to United Transport Administration, Georgian airports transferred 632,948 passengers during 9 months of 2010, which is by 19% up year-on-year.

    Of which, 97% were transferred by Tbilisi International Airport (614,453 passengers), where year-on-year growths made up 16%.

    GT Group announced about opening of first branded store of American tire producer Goodyear. The outlet is located in Tbilisi (Tamarashvili Str. 13, near old hippodrome entrance).

    Batumi Municipality has brought the building with land plot on Kutaisi/Melashvili Str. 1/3 again. According to the auction commission, the matter concerns building of the former shipping company.

    TBC Bank reported on joining the Education and Science Ministry’s project “Computer for Everyone”. To remind, the first bank, being involved in the mentioned project, was TaoPrivatBank (by early October).
