    According to National Communication Commission’s report for 2010, fixed wired communication network is mainly developed in 5 large cities of the country – Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Batumi and Poti. These cities account for 82% of total subscribers of Georgia’s wired networks.

  2. CONSTRUCTION OF 675 OBJECTS WAS COMPLETED IN JANUARY-JUNE

    According to Sakstat, construction works were completed through the first half of the year on 675 objects, totaling to 366,649 square m.

    Of total, biggest share (38.2%) had residential construction.

    Giorgi Kananashvili, director of management company Dexus, declares that investment volume, which should be made in resume of Center Point’s suspended projects, totals to 15 million lari.

    At that, 2.5 million lari has been spent on White House, located on Moscow Avenue, 2.2 million lari – on the complex on Saakadze Square, while 4 million lari – on complex on Khosharauli Street.

  5. “SILK TV” IS LAUNCHED IN 3 MORE CITIES

    Fixed communications operator SilkNet announced that its IP broadcasting service Silk TV is available in 3 more cities of the country since today. Terms for customers of Rustavi, Gori and Khashuri are the same as for users in Batumi and Kutaisi, the company said.

    Municipal Service of Tbilisi City Hall gave a recommendation to Tbilisi Mini-Bus on reduction of cost on travel by mini-buses (route-taxis, the so-called marshrutkas).

    The company declares that they are negotiating with mini-bus drivers and response on travel cost decrease will be known in a week.

    According to National Communication Commission, study of wholesale fixed communications market revealed several companies, having significant market power. The study was conducted in two segments – fixed wired communications and fixed wireless communications.

    Process of giving Tbilisi broadcasting tower in 4-year management is transparent, Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Vera Kobalia declared at the government meeting today.

    The Minister pointed that the process is implemented through auction and any company may apply.

  12. TBILISI ACCOUNTS FOR 80% OF UTILITY PAYMENTS, MADE THROUGH “LIBERTY BANK”

    Liberty Bank reported about 1.9 million payments of utility bills, served by the bank in the 2nd quarter. The figure is increased by 10% comparing to the 1st quarter of this year, while doubled comparing to the same period of the previous year.

  13. SO FAR, COUNTRYWIDE CHECKING REVEALED CRITICAL PROBLEMS ON 3 FOOD-RELATED OBJECTS

    National Food Agency told Sarke that checking of 200 objects is planned for this year, while the process is already completed in half of them.

    During the checking, up to 400 recommendations were given regarding necessity of correction of various problems, while critical discrepancy with set standards was revealed in 3 objects only (agricultural market, bakery and meat processing enterprise), which were closed accordingly, the Agency said.

  14. FIRST GEORGIAN COMPUTER PLANT LAUNCHED

    First computer-assembling plant was launched today in Georgia after Intel’s partnership with local company Algorithm. The plant, located in Tbilisi, was supported by Georgian Ministry of Education and Science.

    As it is known, travel cost with mini-buses (the so-called “marshrutkas”, rout-taxi) have been increased in Tbilisi from 50 tetri to 60 or even 80 tetri (relatively long routs).

    Representatives of Tbilisi Mini-Bus and TbilLine (which have operating this business) declare that they have not increased travel cost in old marshrutkas.
