    State Audit Service spread information that Paata Burchuladze (prominent Georgian opera singer, charity-giver and leader of one of major political parties) received 500,000 lari as salary from Georgia’s Development Fund. As the Service told the newspaper, Burchuladze has received that sum in the period from the Fund foundation and before establishment of the party (i.e. November 2015 – May 2016).

    Tbilisi city court declared about launch of bankruptcy proceedings on LLC Bagebi-2002 (developer and construction company). Respective request was submitted to the court by representative of the company Malkhaz Alborashvili in August.

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that mobile operator MagtiCom is going to acquire 100% in DeltaComm.

    The Commission has started administrative proceedings on issuing preliminary consent.

  4. REGULATORY COMMISSION: TUSHETI HAS DIGITAL OPEN-AIR BROADCASTING

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that owner of national television network, LLC Teleradiocenter, has installed new relay station in Tusheti (mountainous area in northeast part of Georgia).

    In village Omalo (center of the area), new digital terrestrial open-air broadcasting station was installed, which will operate on solar energy, the Commission said.

  5. “ANAKLIA DEVELOPMENT CONSORTIUM”: REGISTRATION OF LABOR FORCE IS TO START WITHIN ANAKLIA PORT PROJECT

    Anaklia Development Consortium announced that registration is to start of those local residents, who wish to be employed within Anaklia Port project.

    At the starting stage, people will be employed at construction, while in future, they will have chance to get job at various areas, Consortium said.

  6. ECONOMY MINISTER: GEORGIA WILL BE ABLE TO OPEN TOURISM SERVICE AGENCIES IN CHINA

    Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Dimitri Kumsishvili declared that “Georgia will be the first country, which will be able to open tourism service agencies in China and make tours to Georgia for Chinese citizens”.

    According to the Minister, Georgian tourism companies will have the mentioned chance after enactment of Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and China.

  7. PMC RESEARCH CENTER: IRANIAN GAS EXPORT TO GEORGIA OR VIA GEORGIA TO EUROPE IN SHORT-TERM PERIOD HAS LIMITED PLAUSIBILITY

    Research Center of Policy and Marketing Consulting Group (PMCG) considers that “it seems there is limited plausibility in the short term to organize export of Iranian gas to Georgia or via Georgia to Europe”.

    The Center points that “in the short term perspective feasibility of transporting Iranian gas via Georgia to Europe – seems to be rather negative”, adding that such a project makes sense in the longer time frame and most probably will come to life in one or another form.

  8. FOREIGN MINISTRY: EU MEMBER COUNTRIES FULLY SUPPORTED VISA WAIVER TO GEORGIA

    Georgian Foreign Ministry reported that COREPER (Committee of Permanent Representatives in the EU, comprising of the head or deputy head of mission from the EU member states in Brussels) held a meeting, where granting of visa-free regime on travels to Schengen zone for Georgian citizens was considered.

    At the meeting, absolute majority of the Committee members supported visa-free regime for Georgia, the Ministry said, adding: that means that the EU member countries have already agreed positions for the final decision of EU Council.

  9. Forbes Georgia: “GEORGIAN TOURISM DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY 2025”

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that National Agency of State Property has sold real estate, located in Tbilisi (David Agmashenebeli Ave. 138), to LLC CEFC (Euro-Asia) for 9.84 million lari. Earlier, the mentioned building hosted a railway college.

  11. CEMENT FACTORY OPENED IN POTI

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that Georgian Cement Company has opened today a plant in Poti, which will employ up to 100 people.

    The project is implemented in cooperation with French-Swiss company LafargeHolcim, the Ministry noted.

  12. THE GOVERNMENT: $680M TO BE SPEND FOR 8 PROJECTS IN TBILISI, GURIA, AJARA AND SAMEGRELO

    Tourism Development Fund, established by Georgian Co-Investment Fund, will implement 8 projects in Tbilisi, Guria, Ajara and Samegrelo, having total cost of $680 million, the government declared.

    “Out of this sum, 259 million lari has been already invested”, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili pointed at the new fund’s presentation, held in Tbilisi today.

  13. GOVERNMENT: GEORGIA STARTS MANUFACTURING OF MODERN ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVES

    The government declared that the plant will be built in Tbilisi, which will manufacture modern rolling stocks. For this purpose, Georgian Railway and Georgian-Chinese company signed respective agreement in Tbilisi today.

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that memorandum on completion of negotiations concerning Georgia-Chinese free trade agreement will be signed on October 5, within visit of Chinese Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng to Tbilisi.

    During the visit, the sides will consider prospects of Georgia-China cooperation, including new concept of Silk Road “One Belt – One Road”, the Ministry said.

    Ruling party has spent major part of the sum on outdoor advertisement, while among broadcasters, Imedi received the biggest order for paid political advertisement (1 million lari), the newspaper notes, referring to MDF.

    23rd Bureau of China Railway, Chinese contractor of Georgian Railway, has signed individual contracts with workers, who are striking in village Zvare of Kharagauli district (Imereti region), taking into account their interests, the magazine reports. As a result, 15-day strike was ended and workers resumed construction of railway tunnel.

  19. CONTRACT SIGNED ON CONSTRUCTION OF PORT IN ANAKLIA

    Today, Georgian government and Anaklia Development Consortium (unites Georgian TBC Holding and the American Conti International) signed investment contract on construction and operating of port in Anaklia.

    The contract grants the Consortium the exclusive right to conduct construction, development and operation of deep-water port on the Black Sea coast of Georgia and hands over for that end the investment territory to the company with development right for a period of 52 years.
